Subject: RE: Help: Irish music/Ithica NY From: Burke Date: 23 Oct 00 - 09:03 PM If it was dancing in Ithaca you wanted I'd have a good source. I'm a bit far to keep up on all Ithaca stuff, but the town has a good entertainment sheet (Folk Stuff?) that should tell all. How far is Wells from Syracuse? I don't know if still goes on but an announcment from about a year ago lists an Irish music jam session going on, on two Sundays a month in downtown Syracuse' s Armory Square. It's held the first and third Sunday of the month in the Limerick Pub on Walton St., and it usually gets going around 4:30 or 5 pm, running for about three hours.

Subject: RE: Help: Irish music/Ithica NY From: Burke Date: 23 Oct 00 - 09:13 PM Just remembered, I do know someone in Ithaca that does Irish music. As soon as I remember his name, it's just on the tip of my tongue, I'll do a PM with the info. Argh!!! I even know where his father goes to church but the name escapes me. I know as soon as I log off I will remember it. |

Subject: RE: Help: Irish music/Ithica NY From: wysiwyg Date: 23 Oct 00 - 11:31 PM Also contact Ithaca Guitar Works, and ask your question. They seem to know what's up there in Ithaca. We wanna know too, so post it! They have a website, I don't have URL here at home, but you can find it! We are an hour and a half to two hours south of Ithaca. Dammit, let's gather. ~S~

Subject: RE: Help: Irish music/Ithica NY From: DonMeixner Date: 23 Oct 00 - 11:55 PM Try the Cornell Folksong club by contacting Phill Shapiro at WVBR in Ithaca. Phill runs a radio show called The Commons every sunday nite from ,I think, Annabelle Taylor Hall. Been doing live folk on that show for at least 25 years, John Roberts and Tony Barrand got their beginnings in Ithaca and on Phill's show. I have played the sessions at The Limerick many times and I find them to be great fun and very irritating at the same time. Thi is an istrrumental bunch and as soon as someone starts to sing, the musicians can't find the toilets quick enough. "Yes ma'am I've heard real Irish music, and its all instrumental" Don |
Subject: RE: Help: Irish music/Ithica NY From: Burke Date: 24 Oct 00 - 08:32 PM I finally found a link for Folkstuff. No calendar, but lots of contact information.
