Subject: RE: Christopher Parkenington From: Ebbie Date: 24 Oct 00 - 05:55 PM bflat, I was practicing how to pronounce his name- decided it would be much easier if there were two n's, as in Parkennington. Otherwise it kept coming out as parkeningting. What a relief. :) Ebbie |
Subject: RE: Christopher Parkenington From: bflat Date: 24 Oct 00 - 11:49 PM Ebbie, I am always rushing around lately. Sorry to have thrown a curve ball. Anyway, I just returned from the concert which was a tribute to Andres Segovia. Christopher was one of his master class students and somewhat a beloved by Segovia, American guitarist. He was tonight an inspiration to anyone who aspires to classical guitar. Three encores!! bflat |

Subject: RE: Christopher Parkenington From: Alice Date: 25 Oct 00 - 12:49 AM Christopher Parkening lived in my town for many years, and there is an annual Christopher Parkening master class here at Montana State University. click here |
Subject: RE: Christopher Parkenington From: Whistle Stop Date: 25 Oct 00 - 08:12 AM He is an outstanding musician -- one of the greats of classical guitar -- and an interesting and intelligent human being. As a young classical guitarist, I attended a performance by him in around 1971-72, and was truly inspired. "Parkening Plays Bach" is still one of my all-time favorite albums. |
