Subject: RE: Do you Know? From: Wolfgang Date: 25 Oct 00 - 12:36 PM As for an answer to the first question, I think Dave Swarbrick is a very strong contender if you count all recordings in which he was listed as one of the musicians. Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: Do you Know? From: M. Ted (inactive) Date: 25 Oct 00 - 01:21 PM Hmm. "Artist" could mean that this person is an instrumentalist or back-up rather than a the singer/instrumentalist that we tend to assume, and "accredited" probably means that the name is not the the primary performer--And "Folk"--could mean anything!! |
Subject: RE: Do you Know? From: Jim Dixon Date: 25 Oct 00 - 06:34 PM It appears that Nana Mouskouri is credited with around 200 LP's. But those would be HER albums, not HIS. And it would be stretching quite a bit to call her a folksinger. Certainly SOME of the songs she sings are folksongs. She sings in several languages and is popular all over Europe, which accounts for her prolific output. |
Subject: RE: Do you Know? From: Susanne (skw) Date: 25 Oct 00 - 07:56 PM Mousethief - so far, there are very few of Alex's 120 albums listed on this site - plus one picture! |
Subject: RE: Do you Know? From: M. Ted (inactive) Date: 25 Oct 00 - 11:36 PM I read somewhere or other that Henry Burr made more than 10,000 recordings(keeping in mind that when he started recording, everything was recorded directly to the cylinder, and he had to re-record each song everytime they wanted to make a new batch) though he was hardly a folkie-- Some of those Nashville cats have probably been credited on 200 albums, but I am hard pressed to think of any names right now-- |
Subject: RE: Do you Know? From: GUEST,scouse Date: 26 Oct 00 - 03:49 PM Alex is correct, congraters to all who got it right. |
