I'm writting a book involving plantaions and a blues playe and need information on when The Blues left the plantaions and got to New Orleans...Pertaining to the earliest years. My character was half white and black and I need to know if there were any famous or almost famous Players like him. Also what were some of the clubs names in New Orleans at that time and their locations. My roots are fom Mississippi and I am loving reliving some fo my own personal history.....Thanks

There were a few musicians from the plantations who gained some noteriety in New Orleans check into the Destrehan Family plantation and into Valcor Aimees Le' petite Versailles plantation and I would check into the history of the town of Vacherie right outside of New Orleans they have a pretty exstinsive history of the blues and folk history of the slaves. Check with a family named Aucoin, they have a 200 yr. history in the town and know just about everything about everyone. In New Orleans you must mention the Absinthe House and Tujaques as both clubs and rest. It would probably be good for your book to mention the 9th ward and Storeyville sections which are both the home of the blues and jazz. Any other questions please E-mail me @ dmartin2@compacdata For anything else I can help you with.
