I'll be in Listowel, not far from my hometown in Cork which is hosting the munster fleadh next year so I'll be there too. Lots of trips to Ireland next year for me. I'll check that but haven't heard anything about this gig

I have not heard if they are in Scotland... Try looking on About.com they have a folk section called across the pond. Which usually lists gig dates...

Ye, It was a great night I think all of the Fiddlers and Accordionists turned out to the concert. The night was really good, great stories and tunes. I last saw them * years a ago and I had only been playing for 3 months. I was great to see them after an 8 year gap, I have a fereling I will be seeing them soon at some festival.

I saw them at the beginning of the year at a small local gig.

They were very good. We were told the story about the kilt too - very funny!

Also, Phil's brother joined in with his fiddle, as he was playing locally too. But he was so bluthered and making mistakes, that Phil turned it into a big micky take and it was really funny. We were wondering why Phil kept smirking whilst on the stage, I turned round and saw the reason why. His brother was stood just over from my left shoulder pulling faces at Phil on the stage. Very comical.

Had a drink with Aly and Phil at the end in the bar, and chatted to them about allsorts. Very interesting insight to things and how they got started in music.

A really good night, and I would recommend anyone going to see them together. They have a good rapport with each other.

Wow...I really like Phil C...his tune "Margaret MacKinnon of Digg" is just pure beauty. I want to make music like that...and it did influece me to write "Cashel Rock" in the same basic kind of style. Leaves you speechless.

Just got back from the abovementioned gig in North Lincolnshire. Now I'm sitting here trying to write at least a brief review, words are failing me.

I'm as biased as a crooked roulette table about such things, but the fiddle and squeezebox are my idea of the perfect sound, and tonight was the pinnacle of my musical experiences. Aly did something in what I think he called Norwegian tuning, which featured both bouncing the bow and plucking open tuned strings with the left hand, all at the same time. He was honest and admitted he needed a few drinks before attempting that one!

Phill was using Midi on his basses, which was the personification of Iris (Is it Iris?) Tulloch, although she was sadly missing. Watching his right hand style was mesmerizing, covering an octave and a half at impossibly quick speed.

The stories got taller, as the duo seemed to enjoy the reception; tales of Fergie MacDonald's kilt being eaten by his accordion, and thinking "Do you know your willy's hanging out" was a tune by Phill Cunningham! The craic was good, and the duo ended up a couple of hours playing with a blistering, multi-keyed rendition of the "Fairy Dance"

Boxette, the Bloke in the Corner, and Sam Pirt were there, too, representing the 'Cat, which I can confirm Phill Cunningham has visited!
