There may be a problem with the chords as there are a few variations of the tune about. Are you aiming for anyones version in particular?

If you go to the box where it says DIGITRAD and FORUM SEARCH and type in Light Horesman you'll get the words to 3 or 4 versions.

I found the words, John. Now all I need is the chords. I have a version of the song on vinyl by Delores Keane and John Faulkner. That's the one I'm shooting for. Kindest reguards, Neil

Neil

We sing this unaccompanied and I'm not sure where we got it from. However, these are the chords that would fit our version. Not sure if they help but they may give you a starter.

BONNIE LIGHT HORSEMAN

(C)Bonaparte he (G)commanded his troops for to (Dm)stand
And he (C)planted (Dm)his can(C)nons all over the land
And (Am)he planted his cannon the whole vic(F)tory for to (C)gain
(Am)And they killed my light horseman (C)re(G)turning from (C)Sp(F)ain

(C)Broken-hearted I will (G)wan(C)der for the loss of my lo(Em)ver
He is my (C)bonnie (Am)light horse(C)man in the wars he was slain.

There's an early broadside copy on the Bodley Ballads website (Mudcat's Links). To find it put 'Light horseman' in the Browse box.

I sing the Dolores Keane version too and there is a version in the DT that comes close. What I have done is copied the lyrics from the DT to a document and then changed the ones that aren't quite the same, but it would be nice to include it in the DT because I'm guessing a lot of people would want it. Also the other versions that I've heard don't have the same tune.

You know what's weird? We had a thread on this a few months ago in which I provided (unauthorized!) chords for the Keane version. I can find the thread if I trace it via my name and things I've posted to, but I can't get it to come up using the forum search. It was called "Bonnie Light Horseman chords?" Maybe someone talented can call it up and post a link. Not that I'm vouching for the chords; they just work for me. Margaret
