With respect to Auxiris, et al, I've missed my Mudcat story of the day fix, so I thought I'd throw one in the pot. I know they don't all have to be Nasreddin stories, but this one is my current favorite. One day, Nasreddin was walking through the market place, and he saw a bird for sale. It wasn't very big, there wasn't much meat on it, and yet a high price was being asked for the creature. When he asked why, he was told that this was a marvellous bird called a "parrot", and that it could talk like a man. Nasreddin immediately ran home, scooped up his turkey, and went through the bazaar, trying to sell his bird for twice the price being asked for the parrot. His friends asked him why he was asking for so much money; after all, the parrot talked. What wonderful thing did his turkey do? "He meditates.", said Nasreddin.

A man walked into a pet store, saw a parrot with a different colored string attached to each foot. He asked why. "This is a bi-lingual parrot",said the storekeeper. "Pull the red string and he will speak in English. Pull the blue and he will speak French." "What happens if I pull both?" "I'll fall off the damned perch, you dumbass!" said the parrot.

Thanks, Hollowfox. Reminds of a time we drove past a field in Connecticut where there were hundreds of white turkeys. They were all hunkered down, sunbathing, as much as one can in the low altitude, wan light of some New England days, so they looked as if they were meditating, but when we rolled our windows down, they could be heard muttering, with an occassional squawk/gobble, all manner of goings-on. There were a few "zen" holdouts, determined to continue their communion with the sun, but at least they all rose up in mass chaos, wings a'flapping and ran across the field, proclaiming something, not quite sure what, at the top of their lungs. It was quite a *riot*.
