It's in the Scottish Gaelic language but the music is very eclectic. It's called Tiompan and the presentor is Maggie MacLennan and it's on BBC Radio Nan Gaidhail which is on the Sky 920(if you are in UK/Ireland) and is on the web at the BBC Radio site. Sadly it's now just finished but do yourself a favour and listen next week Saturday between 11 - 12 GMT Andy |

There is information on the whole thing at www.folkscene.com. I wrote to Ros and Howard and will help them with $$ if needed -- they are great people. KPFK may have some legitimate legal concerns, but after 30 years of helping KPFK, this is no way to treat the Larmans. Nevertheless, Ben Elder's and John Cavis's show on Sat am are very good. And Liz Burkett in on Sundays on worldmusic with bluegrass. |

Also, kpfk.org in LA is beginning to stream and has John Davis on Sat am and the fantastic Folkscene with Ros and Howard Larman on Sunday night. Who would have guessed that the best use of the internet is to replace Muzak? |

I'm listening to "Swing '42" by David Grisman and Tony Rice right now. I especially like Hober's feature of listing the song, artist and album of what's being played at the time, which has just changed to "Blackbird" by Gordon Bok. Plus, you can click and see what the last ten songs played were. Definitely one of the best radio stations on the net, right up there with Mudcat Radio. Thanks, BlueJay |

It is not all traditional but it is as they say in their description, all "handmade" music. Their criterion is that it is music that a group of musicians getting together in a field could play without resorting to effects or electricity. It is a broader collection of music that I would think I would want to listen to but there is something about listening to Lightnin'Hopkins follwed by Billie Holiday that helps to remind me about the variety of music that is around. I listen through a 56k modem which usually connects between 45-50k. THe sound quality is wonderful. Sourdough |

www.zipcon.com/~highroad/tgfs.html - This is a part of the Folkscare site, and, strictly speaking, isn't a radio site. They do play a melange of 60's folkmusic.
