Done that. But why does anyone need an excuse to visit Ireland?

Frank, not a problem ... and please pass that on to your whoevers as well. I work for Wales Rural Forum which, in turn, works with all the Welsh LEADER II groups which, in turn, are part of the UK network. (I could go on, but it gets repetitive...) We get involved in rural / cultural tourism, and I think N.Ireland is a complicated case, so I was interested in the results in a very generalized way.

Perhaps whoever is doing this survey will eventually tie in to the Republic LEADER projects, and feed through that way. Best of luck!

Sian

I'd have done it, but the first question had a 'no' box for 'are you of Irish descent' and nowhere to go after that...It seems to be targetted at those of Irish descent only?

I have ancestors all over the world but none, to the best of my knowledge (and extent of research so far) in Ireland.

Dear Sian,
I must apologise for promising the impossible. Unfortunately I am not allowed to divulge the results of the survey and I have been taken to task for making the offer.

I am sorry for misleading you inadvertently but I thank you again for your assistance.

Many thanks one and all. You have been doing a powerful job. Please keep up the great work. We need many, many more respondents. Also, only one entry per person please and keep up the good work.

God Bless

Frank McGrath

I was able to get it today. I have completed it and passed it off to members of my family here in North America.

Link doesn't work for me either. When it first comes up it has a "20%" in the middle, but even with that cleared out, the page still isn't loading.

BT have busted the leased line to our server and we have been off air for about 4 hours. We may have to wait for another 3 hours before the survey is back up and running.

Thanks to those who have filled out the form so far but to all those who have not yet please be patient while the forms come back online.

Sian, I will be delighted to let you know the survey results when completed. I appreciate also your comments and your points have been taken into consideration.

God Bless
Frank

I'm a sucker for a good questionaire. Enjoyed that (and the link worked fine for me.) Only possible comment is that it asks you for your country of residence ... which is not necessarily the country of origin, or that to which the Irish emmigrated. ie) I did the Q. because of the Irish bit of the family which moved to Canada, but I am currently resident in Wales ...

I also thought the N.Ireland questions were interesting, having just been over there for holidays in Sept. From a work perspective (community / cultural tourism) I'd be interested to hear what results you get there...

thanks for that!

sian

Your link still doesn't load. Perhaps that's why you're not getting many replies from the UK and Ireland.

Well, Frank, I'm really looking forward to the arrival of the Waterford crystal. Goodbye Budweiser beer bottles and rusty tin cans! The kiddies are going to drink from real cut lead crystal goblets now!

Just kidding. All Mudcatville will be turning out to help.

All the best,
Dan

Many Thanks.

Have no fears, you will not be spammed. All the personal info will be deleted when the draw for the Waterford Crystal is done.

And, Jason Irwin, who filled out the survey forms 27 times, while we admire your patience and committment, you will only be entered once for thr draw.

God Bless
Frank

Please Mudcatters will you help.

The American and Australian Catters have responded famously and I have almost a couple of hundred respondents from both countries. But I need equal numbers of Canadians, English and Irish participants.

I know that this has nothing directly to do with folk music but it is somewhat related.

So, maybe you could spare some time to fill out an online survey
- you may win some beautiful Waterford Crystal.

Follow the link above and spend just 5 or 6 minutes filling out the four page form. It will help us in completing a very interesting project.

Thanks in anticipation of your assistance.

Frank McGrath
