Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Hear Ye, This week's fine edition of the great Mudcat Concert series will feature Moonjen, offering a real variety of song. Let us all lend our thoughts and our Will to promote the taming of the dread internet Goblins that have been plaguing HearMe of late. You support is confidently expected.

Thanks for the intro, Sandy. I'll say what I said in the other thread...

I'm excited and looking forward to Thursday evening. There will be a variety of music ... folk, old-thymey, bluegrass, modern, trad ... hopefully a little something for everyone.

The concert will be informal and I'd like to take y'll back to about 1965 and what you were wearin' then, how you wore your hair, your philosophy. If you weren't born then, be creative and use your mind's eye of the times.

I'll have on hiphugger bellbottom jeans, a sleeveless top, psychedelic triangle guitar pick earrings, my hair will be in two long braids, and I'll be barefoot.

I'll be playing my Larrivee D-05 dreadnought and I'd like to invite everyone to bring their instruments ... guitar, mandolin, banjo, washtub bass, autoharp, dulcimer, and a harmony of voices. I'll be able to hear you and if you think hard enough your wonderful kinetic imaginations will take you there, as well.

So, someone bring the Annie Green Springs and someone bring the Purple Passion and let's have a love-in!

Ooo-eee! Gotta find my neck chain with the peace sign pendant. No way to grow my hair long enough, tho'. Sounds like a great time, looking forward to it, moonjen.

The Sixties obviously came to your neck of the woods earlier than to mine. We weren't wearing all that hippie garb until much later -- 1968 and on. So, if I wear what I was wearing in 1965, it'll be a little pleated skirt, Bass weejuns without socks, a sweater set and my hair down to my shoulders in a "flip," with bangs to the middle of my eyes. In other words, I'd be right in style today!

I'm looking forward to it. I have to leave early for a class, but I'll definitely be sitting in the audience for as long as I can.

And back then I was only drinking 3.2 Coors beer in baby-eight cans (So I could save them and roll my hair on them), so I'll just poor a bottle of beer in a pitcher of water to replicate the general flavor ....

You got it WW. In '65 my hair was in a flip, I wore a pleated skirt and sweater set (pants suits didn't come in style until after the mini skirts, and jeans were unheard of then), bass weejuns with no socks (panty hose were new), and I think I had a camel-colored winter coat with a raccoon collar! See y'all there!

no- in '65 my hair looked like a dandelion puff - straight out in all directions from my head. no way! and it was button down shirts and dress slacks...at all times. unh-uh! not going back!

Ok, guys ... I was wearing the pleated skirts, madras blouse with round collar and circle pin and Weejuns, by day ...

Let's move the year up to 1967 ... can ya dig it, can ya dig it?

I was in high school at the time. I cannot remember what I wore but I do remember making a pendant out of a spent .50 caliber machine gun shell. I hung it from a large fake-gold chain painted PEACE 1968 on it and had a flower coming out of the end.

My father was apalled.

Having said that I will not be able to make it to this concert. There are two meetings at my daughter's high school that evening. One is about financial aid for college and the other is about the recent spate of bomb scares we have had at that school.

I'm very sorry to miss any of these concerts. I am especially sorry to miss hearing you, Jenny, for I have enjoyed your posts and wanted to hear you sing. Have a great evening.

Ok, I'd have my Dad's old Marine Corps flak jacket on, blue jeans....poofy hair...unshaven face...guitar...harmonica harness around my neck, thumping out a new favorite song "Subterranean Homesick Blues". Look out, kids!

In 1965 I didn't have a computer that could do HearMe, and I bet I won't on Thursday, either!

So I'll be the one wearing the frown!

But hey, you go girl!!! Write me after and gush a little OK???

I'll be there. Hope I can hear you. In 1965, I was on Chicago's Near North side, being called a hillbilly by various members of the Gold Coast artsy contingent, because I wore bluejeans.

So, for the concert, I'll be a "hillbilly" again. I'm the one with long, straight hair and burn marks on my head (from the iron, of course). Let me tune up that old $19.95 Stella gittar and I'll do my Mother Maybelle guitar licks along with ya.

Hopefully someone will tape this.

Bill, I would be honored if you would wear your Nehru jacket. Do you by chance have a Ben Casey shirt, too?

Giac, no burn marks for me. I rolled my hair on soup cans to straighten it, and slept with my head hanging off the bed.

Ladies: Do you remember doing that, too?

sET MY HAIR WITH BEER TOO TO STRAIGHTEN IT BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT EVERYBODY DID. rIDICULOUS SINCE MY HAIR WAS PERFECTLY STRAIGHT TO BEGIN WITH. hIP LENGTH. nOW DO i WHERE THE HIP HUGGERS WITH THE SATIN SHIRT OR THE MINI WITH THE SHOES WITH GLASS HEELS. uSED TO FREAK OUT A FEW OF THE MORE "SPACY" TYPES.
Maybe I'll just wear my plaid flannel nighty. I am exhausted from the election vigil.

Unfortunately, I was wearing a suit (maybe even 3-piece) and tie. I am retired now, and I refuse to go back to that even for your concert. Sorry.

Spaw ... I'm so glad you will be here!!! And, BTW, I really love/loved that look. I loved harness boots because my folks thought any guy who wore them was a biker and it was my little bit of rebellion.

Since mudcat was down from sometime during the night, I was getting a little worried. So I called mudcatville and talked to one of the elves (cuba joe) who seems to have fixed it!!! Thank you! Thank you!

Looking forward to tonight and seeing everyone.

Unfortunately, Jen, I won't be able to make it....my grandparents are down from North Idaho, and I'm taking them out to dinner tonight. In fact, you might have a few things in common with them, they are about your age.....
