Subject: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Lonesome EJ Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:18 PM Well folks,it's election night, and here at Mudcat Election 2000 HQ we are watching the results closely. So far,it's a barn-burner.The count at this time is Bush 121 electoral votes,Gore 119, and Gore has captured the key state of Florida.Big Mick has also apparently delivered Michigan for Gore. Stay tuned, and we look forward to hearing from all correspondents! |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: katlaughing Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:23 PM Glad to see you got the place set up, LeeJ. Nice bunting. Did you remember the noise makers? Anyone setting up the drinks? Not heard a word, here, yet, about Wyoming, but with only 3 electoral votes and given its penchant for the Grand Oil Party, I go on record, stick my neck out, dive right in and predict that Dumbya will take Wyoming, to my chagrin! kat |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Lonesome EJ Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:27 PM That may be true Kat,and I'm predicting Bush/Cheney take Colorado as well.So far the big surprise to me is Florida, and I think Gore owes a big debt to Banjer and Harpgirl for their excellent grassroots work in that pivotal state. |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Big Mick Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:27 PM So far, so good. Come on, Pennsylvania. Make the ole Big Mick right on his call of 302 electoral votes. Be back later. Mick |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Lonesome EJ Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:35 PM Thanks,Mick. That's Michigan correspondent Big Mick, who played a key role in creating the Michigan Gore lead. Alabama has gone Bush, and he has increased his lead to 130 to 119. We are also interested in local referendums and Senate/Congressional races. Here in Colorado, legalized use of marijuana is a high profile issue.I voted for it,although I think patients who are prescribed marijuana should also get free milk and cookies as part of the deal. |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: katlaughing Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:35 PM Yeah! C'mon, Pennsylvania - Home of the Mudcat!! Help the Big Mick out!! LeeJ, don't forget Kendall, Liberal Extraordinaire, visited down there and had a mighty fine time of it, judging from a few postings. I am sure his work down there really helped.:-) |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Lonesome EJ Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:38 PM That's our Wyoming correspondent Katlaughing. Yes,Kat,the influence of Kendall can't be overlooked, especially when you consider his impact in bringing in the Curmudgeon Vote both in Florida and Maine, which has just gone into the Gore column. |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: WyoWoman Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:42 PM That would be two votes for medical marijuana from the Great State Of Colorado. Except I said I thought chocolate fondue should be a part of the treatment. Watching avidly on CNN-online, listening to NPR -- what I get for not having television. I could get results AND have those familiar homicidal feelings come back as I listen to the tele-twits narrating all night long... Fingers and toes crossed that MY Guy wins ... ww |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Lonesome EJ Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:49 PM One problem with the fondue concept,Wyo...I've never been an advocate of mixing marijuana use with any kind of open flame and sharp utensils. Gore has apparently just taken Pennsylvania.Way to go Max and Bert! Gore 145 Bush 130.Can Spaw bring Ohio into the Gore column? More after these messages.... |

Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Lonesome EJ Date: 07 Nov 00 - 09:16 PM Ohio looms large, still too close to call. WW...I can't wear the fez and the Pickle Dimmer at the same time as the bi-directional pull tends to put a cramp in my trucking muscle. Could Gore lose the popular vote by nearly 5% and still win the election? |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Lonesome EJ Date: 07 Nov 00 - 09:17 PM Bush has just taken Ohio and Tennessee...look out.Bush 185 Gore 182 |

Tim and I are still speaking to eachother - fondly - even though I voted for Nader. So who's going to accept my challenge and switch from Nader to Gore in California or Washington? HEY! Pennsylvania for GORE!!!!

Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Bill D Date: 07 Nov 00 - 09:21 PM Missouri looks SO important right now....and St. Louis will still be voting for till 11PM |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Lonesome EJ Date: 07 Nov 00 - 09:30 PM Looks to me like Gore,in order to win, will need California,Oregon, and Minnesota in his column,as well as two of these: Wisconsin,Missouri,Arizona,or Washington.Shame about Tennessee, hey Al? |

Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: katlaughing Date: 07 Nov 00 - 09:41 PM The Governor of Wisconsin just said he was sure his state would go for Bush. Had the gall to be gleeful about it! Miriam, there is a famous Mudcat song, written by our own Amos, tongue-in-cheek, about men's dangly bits, i.e. "pickles" glowing at night. It's been heard on Mudcat radio often and you can read it by going to the Quick Links, choose Aine's Mudcat Songbook and go from there. kat |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: MiriamKilmer Date: 07 Nov 00 - 09:43 PM Yes, Minnesota has been declared for Gore. I got carried away in my mode of expression. Polls in CA don't close until 11 PM. They're not supposed to release the results of exit polls until then. Robb just conceeded to Allen in VA. I'm no fan of Robb, but I hate to see the Dem's lose a seat, and I hate to see another electric-chair fan get into the Senate. Speaking of seats. |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Bill D Date: 07 Nov 00 - 09:47 PM it would be funny if W. Va. or N. Hampshire decided it at 3 am...well....maybe not TOO funny |
Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: MiriamKilmer Date: 07 Nov 00 - 09:47 PM Do I dare? "Concombre" has been one of my favorite French words since I was fourteen. How do you say "dimmer" in French? Dimmer than what? New Mexico for GO GO Gore! Yes, that means it has just been declared! |

Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: WyoWoman Date: 07 Nov 00 - 10:01 PM For some reason, the results in Florida have just been recalled, according to NPR -- they're saying it might or might not go to Gore now ... Jayzuz what a squeaker ... LEJ -- did you see that Medical Marijuana won? I'm feeling a little puny ... Somebody heat up the fondue. And LEJ, you'll never make it as a cowboy if you don't think sharp instruments and open flame are the elements of a great party. Let's RODEO!!! ww |

Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: MiriamKilmer Date: 07 Nov 00 - 10:29 PM saumurer de concombre Concombre is actually cucumber. "Cornichon" is a small pickle (gherkin). We could say Saumurer de concombre au vinaigre. Now wait a minute, "saumure" is brine. Dimmer is "variateur d'ambiance" - or "plus bouché." Thanks for helping me find "Your Pickle Glows at Night." Now I'll need to look up the tune so I can sing it to Tim. To celebrate Gore's victory - or to comfort ourselves should the unthinkable happen.

Subject: RE: BS: LEJ's Mudcat Election HQ 2000 From: Amos Date: 07 Nov 00 - 10:31 PM The Floridians are a bunch of wusses! I'm standing in the surf fairly close to Japan at the moment Leej,. and from here it definitely looks like there's a Bush burning going on over there in round-eyesville. Lights up the whole Pacific Rim. Californians are turning out by the platoon to right the silliness of newscasters who try to swing elections by juggling their predictions. We feel this will be a ferocious contest with ultimate justice as the shadow of Voting Day moves slowly into the Western wetlands. Of course, as the bishop said to the actress, that all depends on whose Bush gets Gored. Amos |
