I've just spilt a glass of port all over my computer desk, my computer tower, some CD roms and the carpet. It gets everywhere, and boy, is it sticky!

Is anyone else silly enoough to drink and post; and if so, what is your usual tipple?

I do it all the time and once upended a whole mug of coffee into my computer.....the work one, not mine, thank heavens......once it dried out it seemed fine although it now gets caffeine cravings which is a bit sad.

Coffee or water. I recommend club soda for getting the port stains out of your carpet.

As I type I have a glass of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon in front of me. No major spillages yet, touch wood, but I suspect it's only a matter of time.

I always think port stains add a certain lived in charm to a carpet.

Who wastes that much port? I doubt if a dribble has reached the floor in this house, my gob is usually underneath it as it drops!!

Once had a nasty accident with an electric typewriter and a mug of cocoa, but we blamed the dog.

I find that the keyboard usually gets wetted by stuff descending my nose from sudden laughing violently, the beverages of choice are tea or coffee, the chief causes are in no particular order Spaw, Mortee, kat, JenEllen, Aine, and a few more ( you know who you are)...the only upside is the mucus increases the viscosity and slows the rate of the fluid sinking in and just gives time to grab a tissue and mop...

I don't spill coffee anymore now that I have found that handy cupholder. You know, the one on the front of the CPU that pops out when you push that little thingie?

Amazon UK sent be an insulated plastic coffe beaker with a lid and a dripple hole so it doesnt spill(much) even if knocked overas athank you for ordering stuff from them, but it is NOT, unfortunately ,proof against the nose siphon, see above

Chai is the best for sticky late-night spillage. If I use evaporated milk and a good dollop of honey, it leaves that yummy baby diaper smell in the keyboard for the next week or so until I can't stand it anymore.

Under the heading of "don't try this at home", but I tried it and it worked -
I dumped a jugful of Adnams' Broadside over the keyboard of a Mac a couple of years back. Broadside is devilish sticky stuff, but I just unplugged the board and chucked it into a sink full of clean cold water. A good shake and a drying off in the airing cupboard and the keyboard worked just fine afterwards.
I can't guarantee that everyone will have such a happy ended from dunking a keyboard, however. If you try it and fry it, don't sue me!
