I found this recording on Spotify. I have boldfaced the words that are different from the version I posted earlier.

The publisher of this song is Joe Keene Music Co., and Ramey also wrote some other songs that Keene recorded: "Beagle Hound," and "There's a Rope behind the Door," so I think it's likely that this is the original recording.

By the way, Evansville, Indiana did indeed have a McCurdy Hotel, but it was converted to a retirement home/nursing facility in 1970. It also has a Coliseum. The "mashed potato" dance step was popular in 1962.

Bob performed once or twice a year at Lewiston, MI's Redwood Steak House in 1974-6 or so. He enjoyed the town, and would be a guest at the home of a particular family during his stay. The father/son pair of the host family recorded his performances - if only I could recall their name. Undoubtedly, in such a small town, someone with the time could probably seek out the recordings.

My recollection of some of the lines are different from those posted by Mr. Dixon, but then, over years of live performances, I would expect some changes. Also, my own memory could be failing - which is why I sought out this site. Thanks!

I found the video of Allen Dale singing this song at YouTube, and I did my best to transcribe it, but there are still some gaps and uncertainties. I would appreciate any help resolving them.

The name Wayne Iglehart is taken from Allen Dale's spoken introduction, so it could be misspelled. I have been unable to find him in any database of songwriters.

Ragtime Bob Darch was a personal friend of mine and I heard him do Big Chested Woman a thousand times, Unfortunatel, I did not tape it. However, you can listen to Alan Dale do it on you tube. Type in Big Chested Woman Alan Dale video.

Well Bouzouki, I can't help you with THAT song...other to say that it's a satirical take on a very common theme in folk music. The song "A very Unfortunate Man" is one of the variants.

But.....coincidentally (although it won't be much help) my mother, Dorothy, was good friends with Ragtime Bob Darch. Although she was primarily a "straight" musician, she loved Ragtime, and could play it reasonably well. Hopefully someone here can up with the answer.

Does anyone remember a honky tonk piano player named "Ragtime Bob Darch", He used to play at the Silver Rail, and the Hayloft,25 to 30 years ago, in Toronto. He sang a song about a man picking up a pretty girl in a bar, only to get her home to find out that all het best atributes were fake.The only line I remember is "and above her solarplexis she was flat as central Texas, and her great big chest was hanging on the chair" It could have a title like "she was a great big chested woman".Any help with lyrics and chords or a source for the song itself would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
