Help: Software to create Piano Scores

I know that there have been lots of threads about scoring software, but I'm having difficulty locating them.

I'm looking for something to help a friend who plays Organ at a local church. What she wants to do is simplify the arrangements of various songs, as she has difficulty with some of the more complex arrangements and doesn't play by ear.

Lots of the cheap (free) programs only offer a single clef, but she needs a double piano clef. Price is a big consideration.

Any thoughts, links to past threads etc much appreciated

Ed, there are so many threads. If you go up to the supersearch box and type in "noteworthy", without the quotation marks, and hit GO, you will see many, many of them and the individual postings come up, which you can then look over.

Noteworthy Composer would do what she wants and I know there are links to it in those threads and it is free.

Isn't noteworthy shareware?

I think the best scoring program is Sibelius if you do a search on any big search engine it should be easy to find it is a bit pricey though.

Noteworthy is "sorta" shareware in that their demo product is not very crippled. and the price is only $40 dollars; for the price it is extremely powerful. And from my experience it is the easiest of the programs to use, especially if you are adding lyrics.

I've tried several programs and the one I liked most is Noteworthy, it's so much easier to use than any of the others,and leaves you time to concentrate on the music

I support noteworthy too....... I bought the registered version....... cheap for the value......

I have used it to transpose hymns, re-write, all sorts of stuff....... nice clear print too......

I just downloaded the evaluation version of noteworthy and I'm really impressed.

I didn't even need to look at the help files to get started. For $39, it's a real bargain.

I know that I'm probably preaching to the converted, but I've recently had a chance to have a play with Sibelius, having been a fan of NoteWorthy for some time. If you are chasing the BEST quality output then Sibelius is truly the duck's guts - it is superb. But for general notation it's an absolute pain in the ring. If I had scads of money I'd use NWC to do the hack work and then employ Sibelius for the final product. But I don't and I wom't. Regards, John
