Well, I know he translated the International in Welsh. But who's he? I tried to find a book but it seems he was never translated in Italian.
Oh, and could anyone re-translate in English the Welsh version? To me it looks just like a mixture of G, W, Y and D, even if it sounds very good when sung... ;-)

Have you tried here: THE INTERNATIONALE?

The English version, if not a translation into English of the Welsh.

Ciao

If I get time to go to the Library, I'll get you TE's biog. I couldn't tell you from memory, but I think he was known as Niclas y Glais, and was a major Welsh poet around the 1930s, based in ... the upper Swansea Valley? I don't know where Tegwyn's got to these days; he could tell you absolutely everything you would ever want to know, and give you a better translation than the following.

Deffrowch, orthrymedigion daear,
Cyfodi mae'r newynog lu
Daw gwirioneddau'r bywyd newydd
I chwalu niwl yr oesoedd fu.
Wele gaethion y cystudd hirfaith
Yn ymuno'n fyddin fawr,
I gyhoeddi rhyddid i'r cenhedloedd
Ac i'r ddynolryw doriad gwawr.

Awaken, oppressed of the earth,
The starving hordes are rising,
The truths of the new life are coming
To scatter the mists (fog) of ages past.
Behold the slaves of the prolonged affliction
Joining the great army
To proclaim freedom to the nations
And daybreak (new dawn) to all mankind.

Henffych weithwyr y gwledydd,
Dyma'r frwydr ola'i gyd;
Mae'r undeb rhyngwladol yn newid seiliau'r byd.

Hail workers of the nations
Here is the final battle
The International Union is changing the foundations of the world.

sian

Tony, try this...

http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~yan/int/int.html
I told the guy also where he can find the Arab, Japanese and Turkish lyrics, but he didn't find the time to add them yet.
If you know any other language than those, please help (try also to find my thread: Lyr Req: The Internationale - various languages).

Thanks to both.
