November 23 is fast approaching. To all 'catters who will be partaking of a holiday meal - indeed, to all 'catters having a meal on Thursday -

Some hae meat and canna eat, And some wad eat that want it; But we hae meat, and we can eat, And sae the Lord be thanket.

Happy Thanksgiving! May your day be joyful and filled with good company, good food, and more than a little mince pie.

I just read the postings under the Nickname thread started in 1999 and continued in 2000 under Nickname II. I have a better understanding of you who posted and am happy to be part of your community. ~group hug goes here~

Glad you are here, Rowana. I'll save a slice of pecan pie for you.

Yeah Rowana....I'm with Allan! Well, someone HAS to be with Allan, but that's not the point. Glad you're here! And if you go find a thread called "Thanksgiving Recipes-Let's Bite the Bird" you can give me a favorite dish in trade for the one I left.

Spaw

Yum! Pecan pie! I haven't had it in ages - pecan pie, that is. And it would go well with the main course of ham and spoon bread. No turkey at my house this year which means no eating turkey forever after. On the down side, it means no turkey sandwiches on Friday. Maybe I should get a token turkey at the market.

So Rowana......I used to use the Berea College recipe for Spoon Bread....How about putting yours on that thread I mentioned?

In keeping with what I perceive to have been the intent of this thread:

I have countless things for which to be thankful. The love I witness each time I visit the Mudcat is most certainly one. Happy Turkey Day to all!

Spaw,

Will do tomorrow. I'm not ignoring you; the cookbook's downstairs - I think it's in the Williamsburg cookbook - but the Wizard of Oz is on the tube and the pull is too strong. If I hurry, I'll be in time to see Dorothy happily reunited with Auntie Em and make her solomn declaration about home.

Welcome to the Mudcat, Rowana.

I'd join you in your Thanksgiving thing, but I'm pretending to be on a tropical island in a far away place where the people are not familiar with Thanksgiving. I'll be there until Thursday.

In the meantime, would you like a pina colada? The waiter who brings them is very nice.

Best wishes,

Carol
