Yeah, Jim, the chords are very straightforward. I think it only uses 3 chords -- 4 at most.

It's the tune that I don't have firmly in my mind, and the chords will remind me where the tune goes.   §:-)

saw a cmt show once on how Waylon, Gatlin and others got started - I think the song is about their agent in Nashville who let the songwriters sleep in her living room --
is that the story?

I didn't know Shel Silverstein wrote this one either, I thought it was Gordon - but I always wondered why it had been written; knowing it wasn't Gordon but Shel makes it make a lot more sense!

I learned it a tad differently, from "Don Quixote" album and songbook. Pretty song, but I've never heard it done by anyone but Lightfoot.
