Subject: Lyr Add: COWBOY CONVENTION (Ohio Express)^^
From: Sorcha

Finally, my brother sent me a tape!! Warning!! NOT PC!!
Here are the lyrics:

COWBOY CONVENTION
Buddy Alan and Don Rich
also covered by Ohio Express and possibly done by Buck Owens on his TV show.

I was ridin' the prairie,
When out of the blue
I could see two dozen Indians
Startin' to close in on me.
There was no place I could run,
And I never carry a gun,
So I cried for help.......

(chorus)
And along came Hop A Long Cassidy, Maverick and Billy the Kid,
I'd have been lost if they hadn't shown up when they did
And there was even Doc Holliday, Buffalo Bill, Jesse James
And three hundred cavalry but I can't remember their names.

I was safe in my cabin
And thinkin' of goin' to bed,
When an Indian tomahawk
Stuck in the wall by my head.
I looked through the window to see
Three thousand Indians comin' at me,
So I cried for help.....

(chorus)

But one day I was caught
And was taken to see Runnin' Bear.
But we got on so well that he
Told me that I could stay there.
And according to Indian law
I could have me a choice of a squaw.

And I needed no help, but along came
Hop A Long Cassidy, Maverick and Billy the Kid.
I'd a been fine if they hadn't showed up like they did.
And there was even Doc Holliday, Buffalo Bill, Jesse James
And three hundred cavalry, but I can't remember their names.

Please be advised that I am well aware that this song is not politically correct, and that the attitude expressed here-in is NOT that of the poster (or probably the management either, but I can't speak for them.)^^

BMI.com and several other sources say that COWBOY CONVENTION was written by Peter Barnfather and John Carter (a.k.a. John Shakespeare).
