Subject: The Dransfields From: MARINER Date: 06 Dec 00 - 07:27 PM Can anyone tell me if there's any recordings by Barry and Robin Dransfield, either together or as solo artists. The last recordings of them I have are "Rout of the Blues" and "Tidewave". They surely must have recorded since then! |

Subject: RE: The Dransfields From: Stewie Date: 06 Dec 00 - 09:10 PM Barry Dransfield has 2 CDs on Rhiannon: 'Be Your Own Man' RHYD5003 and 'Wings of the Sphinx' RHYD5010. There's a 2-CD retrospective on Free Reed that even managed to winkle a couple of tracks out of the dreaded Celtic Music: 'Up to Now: A History of Robin & Barry Dransfield' Free Reed FRDCD 18. This is all old stuff; I don't think there have been any new recordings together. Castle/Essential have reissued 'The Fiddler's Dream' ESMCD 462. --Stewie. |

Subject: RE: The Dransfields From: Stewie Date: 06 Dec 00 - 09:16 PM The Free Reed has a couple of tracks from Barry's Rhiannon recordings - I was not strictly correct in saying it was 'all old stuff'. --Stewie. |

Subject: RE: The Dransfields From: GeorgeH Date: 07 Dec 00 - 08:49 AM Barry Dransfield continues to play folk clubs, etc. in the UK (and a damn fine live performer he is, too). Now living in Hastings as I recall. I'd strongly recommend "Wings of the Sphynx". Don't know what Robin's up to . . I understood from Barry that they don't see a great deal of one another. G. |
