She's a brilliant young lady who I know from college and she is a guitarist (12 string).

Well, as Firecat said, i play a 12 string guitar and play songs like 'streets of london' and 'house of the risin sun' etc. So if U know of any really good songs then tell me about them.

I would extend a similar welcome to you Kc and say have fun, there is a lot of P*** taking goes on, but it is THE place for finding that tune/song you heard someone sing/play at a party 3 years ago that comes back to haunt you every now ans then, Just put up what you can remembe, in the title of a thread,, I had somthing I was looking for for 11 years answered in 48 hours on here.

Welcome, KC! Or Kc or however you spell it. This is a great place with a bunch of really knowledgeable people, and most of us are really friendly. Don't bend over near Spaw, though, and keep him downwind of yourself.

I'm the Mousethief. I go around trying to help people be civil to each other, which really gets on some people's nerves. Bwahahahaha. What they don't realize is that all this civility stuff I preach is really a FRONT that allows me to be as irritating as I like in the name of pleasantness.

Actually, come to think of it, they probably already know that.

Ok, this is definitly a somewhat mad bunch of people, ( am i using the right terminology cos i'm not sure). I suppose i fit in perfectly wi U lot, ( firecat says she and a few of U lot R aliens, well so am I an it great to find some fellow outsiders).

I'm sat here with Bren, who i'm still persuading to join, (he'll be a member by the end of the day, and U have to give him a warm welcome cos he's my boyfriend).

This comes to you from Mudcat's resident radical red, Anglo Irish Republican (Anglo from Westmoreland many generations ago) - half Roma (Gypsy) on me mums side, living (as much as one can call it living) in New York City and playing the Uilleann pipes for yabos for pennies. I must admit I noticed this post, and with all the wonderful vitriolic posts about our recent election (or lack of it) over on this side of the puddle, I didn't get around to saying welcome in... and then, I noticed your very intelligent comment about not drinking when driving the ol' scooter. Uncommon good sence. Lately, I have been in Wiltshire hearing from friends daughters, about your age, about the high mortality rate in the UK (or the K as some of us prefer to call it;-) ) among young folk who drink and drive.
Folk musicians get better with age, so it behoves more of us to show your good sence.

A yabo is a rather interesting specimin... as you may know, there is a great deal of controversy as to what happened to the Nandrathauls, some say they evolved into modern humans, though this is not born out in the foscil record as Neanders were becoming more pronounced in their neader morphology as the years went on... I feel they likely died out due to a week imune system, as they did not travel about as we do and did, and yet there exists today a search for Neander mydocondrial DNA so that it might be traced, if found in modern humans. Yabos, who often inhabit New York bars, and are generally loud, bear drinking pool playing sports watching right wing voting sexual harrassing modern humans, are often named as the community first to be examined for Neander DNA. I think that greatly underestimates Neanders, of whom I am quiet fond, often sculpting them, more than any other early hominids. The chinlessness is not often seen among NY yabos, though the pronounced overhanging brows seems to be often present, though not necisarily from birth, but as a result of often knitting the brows while trying to figure out the more challenging questions of our times, such as, what kind of beer should I drink, or why did my sports team loose the idiot cup, or why do chicks not go to bed with me when I snort at them and compliment thier ... oh never mind... The large ocipidal bun is also often present, agian, not likely from birth, but from continued falling over backwards when drunk and smashing that portion of the skull again and again. low slooping forheads come from habitual knitting of the eye brows, (see above...)

Well, as one KC to another, I say "welcome" as well. I chose WyoWoman because there was another KC when I first joined the 'Cat a couple of years ago. But I haven't seen hide nor hair of her in many a month, so looks like the moniker's yours.

I'm a sometimes visitor here now because work has taken over my life. (I never thought it would come to this, honestly...) But you'll find a merry, occasionally cranky band here and I'll join some of the previous posters in saying how good it is to see folks your age appreciate traditional music. As for recommendations for good songs, you'll probably reach the point I have sometime, where you mourn the fact that there are so many songs, so little time!
