Hmm, #30 is the only one I'm not sure of.

And for the clue for #43, the first clause ought to be "Rimed, ..." to make it tougher.

There's a carol called just "Three Kings" or sometimes "March of the Three Kings" that would do for #30.

I took 'the list' to our funeral home Christmas party tonight. It was a hit. There were a couple of choir members in their cups who were really impressed.

Does anyone know what Ascent of Apollo is all about? It has to refer to the east or the orient, but I don't get the reference. When I did an internet search all I found was information about the Apollo program and more versions of Alex's quiz.

I think it's just refering to "the east" -- same as "the orient"

What does "choir members in their cups" mean?

the ascent of apollo - Apollo being associated with the sun (Phoebus Apollo) and the sun rising in the east. so it is the autocratic threesome originating near the place the sun rises.

Yes - Apollo drives his golden chariot across the sky everyday - that's the Sun. Kinda makes you wonder how he accomplished everything else he was reported to do. The myths never mention it was nighttime . . .
