I'll try to help a little. Heard that it was about a girl going back to her hometown of Talco Texas (Rather timely for this holiday season). The verses work like call and response sort of. Each has its own tune like a verse and chorus. The version I heard was accompanied by wonderfully lively finger picking

TALCO GIRL
Steve James

In a Dallas motel room,
She's calling for Sonny and Merle
Said tell them I'll be home soon
I'm nothing but a Talco girl

Nothing but a Talco girl
In a Dallas motel room
Callin' for Sonny and Merle
Sayin' tell them I'll be home soon

The downtown don't look the same
It's been ten years or more
Coin laundry's got a video game
And a fire took the grocery store

Fire took the grocery store
Coin laundry's got a video game
It's been ten years or more
Downtown don't look the same

She remembers a front porch swing
Her Uncle Jerry and a hot rod Caddy
Hearing Roger Miller sing
Telling everybody that's my daddy

Telling everybody that's my daddy
And Uncle Jerry and a hot rod Caddy
Sitting on a front porch swing
And hearing Roger Miller sing

It's a lonesome graveyard low
She's nothing but a Talco girl
She says "Goodbye, Daddy"
She says "Hello, world"

She says "Goodbye, Daddy"
She says "Hello, world"
I'll tell them wherever I go
I'm nothing but a Talco girl

I'll tell them wherever I go, Daddy
I'm nothing but a Talco girl

Thanks for the help with the lyrics... I was hoping I could get the tab, since I can't figure out what he's doin' with that guitar... I assume it's an open tuning, but I don't play much out of standard. It's a great tune, and THANKS again! =:o) Jerry (in temperate Tempe, AZ)
