Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Gypsy Date: 28 Mar 01 - 12:00 AM Finally found the tape. Actually, our player did. Now we know why MelBay discontinued it.....the player on the tape was less than wonderful. Thanks to all that helped on this one! |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Gypsy Date: 11 Jan 01 - 04:47 PM You brilliant woman, you! Thanks for the teaching, really appreciate it. Will try to do sometime soon. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Sarah2 Date: 10 Jan 01 - 09:50 PM Gypsy, You highlight what you want to copy, hold down the Control key and hit C: That's Copy. Go to where you want to insert the information, hold down the Control key and hit V: That's Paste. Very handy for putting the html "br" at the end of the line of lyrics in Mudcat. Am still waiting to hear from most of the musicians I've e-mailed about this, keeping the thought that they're looking for us, too (or I'll hurt them). Sarah |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Gypsy Date: 10 Jan 01 - 06:08 PM Still impressed. I dunno how to do that! Any mando players out there yet? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: GUEST,Sarah Date: 05 Jan 01 - 09:39 PM Gypsy, Copy and paste. I am actually a lazy slug. Sarah |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Gypsy Date: 05 Jan 01 - 09:29 PM Bless your heart, Sarah, what a huge amount of typing! Mando players, unite! come back! |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 04 Jan 01 - 11:12 PM WOW! I had no idea it was soooo big! lol!!! |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: GUEST,Sarah Date: 04 Jan 01 - 10:58 PM According to the Mel Bay website, the songs in the book are:
Classical and International Music Section
Early Country and Bluegrass Music Section
Rock and Blues Section
Rock and Blues Choruses ...along with studies, methodology, etc. It's a huge book, and, oddly enough, the website says it comes with a tape of "82 of the 118 songs." But they e-mailed me back that they don't have it anymore. (Still a couple of mando players I know, Gypsy, apparently away. But will keep plugging till I run out of ideas of where to try. Surely SOMEWHERE out there...) Sarah |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 04 Jan 01 - 12:51 PM Wouldn't it be easier to find the tunes else where? There must be midi's or mp3's of them somewhere no?
why not post the tune list and we'll see what we can find that way? |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Gypsy Date: 04 Jan 01 - 11:30 AM Well, they don't have it either. Anyone out there? WIll let this thread die soon. Just figured with the holidays, might miss someone who would know. |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Gypsy Date: 03 Jan 01 - 11:11 PM Still waiting for reply...if i ever find this hummer, will share with any who want it. Has 82 of the 112 tunes in the book |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Gypsy Date: 02 Jan 01 - 11:31 PM Bluegrass mando method is terrific! We have that one too! Anyway, heard from MelBay, with the expected response, but they pointed me in a few directions. Have emailed one, and we'll see what happens. This site is cool....can't do a blueclicky (admit, and shame the devil, too lazy to LEARN!) but here is the site: www.musicnotes.com check it out |

Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: GUEST,Sarah Date: 31 Dec 00 - 10:46 AM Gypsy, No luck so far -- I got most of the area towns, but a few stores seem to be closed due to weather (record snows last week), so will have to try them next week. I'll give the mandolin players I know a call, too. They're mostly bluegrass around here, but who knows? First, I think I'll drop a line to Mel Bay to ask them why I can no longer get a tape or CD with the Anthology of Mandolin Music, product number 93952. email@melbay.com (Someone want to make a link of that, please?) If others will do the same, they might think it's a movement (sorry, Arlo). Somehow, We Shall Prevail! Sarah |

Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Gypsy Date: 29 Dec 00 - 10:07 PM Sarah, you are a love! Sorry that you are working too much. I remember those days well! You are right, maybe a united Cat front would make MelBay reissue. Didn't have any luck when I called. Clinton, will hold high hopes that your Mom has the tape. Will mail her blank of her choice to replace the copy. Thank you both so much! |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: GUEST,Sarah Date: 29 Dec 00 - 08:27 PM Oh, Clinton, I hope so... Gypsy, I only got about half my calls made, and the rotters called me in to work AGAIN! (There seems to be a disgusting managment philosophy going on right now that precludes any employee working less than 40 hours a week. If we have a holiday, they manage to call us in for overtime later that week. If we take vacation, we will wind up down there the next weekend. It's un-American.) Will make the rest of the calls tomorrow. I've done the local boys, no luck; will check the area small-town places tomorrow. There's always a chance. Maybe we should get all the 'Cats to contact the Mel Bay folks and ask about that tape and why doesn't it come with the book anymore... Sarah |
Subject: Mel Bay mando tape From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 29 Dec 00 - 04:04 PM I'll email my mom tomorrow and see if that's the Mando tape that she has... No promises though eh... |

Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: Gypsy Date: 25 Dec 00 - 04:27 PM Sarah, thank you so much for the effort. Will pay money to get this for #1 mando player in group...he reads tab, which don't help much when you don't have the tune. Thank you, thank you, thank you! |
Subject: RE: Help: Mel Bay mando tape From: GUEST,Sarah Date: 25 Dec 00 - 02:52 PM Well, Gypsy, no false hopes here, but I do live in an area where one of the music stores (who never throw anything away and generally run about 20 years behind the times) might just have it. I'll call them all next Thursday, when I have a day off, and see if they can dig one up. Will let you know before the new millennium. Good ol' Mel... Sarah |
