You can get used to being bald. The Younger you are the harder it is.

I started going bald at 19. Now age 44 I am growing my hair back
I lost 20 years ago.

I can't tell you how happy it makes me. When I first realized I was
growing hair, I wanted to scream from the top of a mountain "I am growing hair". I never thought I would be able to grow hair again.

In summary going bald sucks. You get used to it. Growing hair is great.

Ken

John

The version I remember ended with "to belt the weans on Monday". You must have gone to a posh school.

Subject: Lyr Add: CLEANHEAD BLUES (Eddie 'Cleanhead' Vinson
From: Jim Dixon
Date: 21 Jul 04 - 06:49 PM

I transcribed this from streaming archived audio from today's Morning Show on Minnesota Public Radio.

CLEANHEAD BLUES
Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson

Folks call me Mister Cleanhead, just because my head is bald. (2x)
But with the stuff that I use, I don't need no hair at all.

If it wasn't for you women, I'd have my curly locks today. (2x)
But I been hugged, kissed, and petted till all my hair was rubbed away.

When it starts to gettin' winter, my head gets kinda cold.
I try to grow a little hair, but I can't to save my soul.
When it comes to gettin' summer, I get such a pretty tan,
You can hear all the women holler, "Where can I find that Cleanhead man?"

Yes, they call me Mister Cleanhead 'cause I been bald a long, long time,
But I don't need to worry. You get yours, and brother, you know I'll get mine.

[From the album, "Bosses of the Blues, Vol.2," RCA 8312-2-RB.]

My Dad sings (with his Cockney accent),

Hair, hair, hair, I've got none on my noddle
Hair, hair, hair, around the streets I toddle
People say 'He's a good old thoroughbred'
I never get a knock, I'm a jolly old cock
proud of my old bald head.

Then, Sam, if your friend is a school teacher, there's the old Glasgow favorite:
Oor wee school's the best wee school
It's made wi' bricks and plaster,
The only thing that's wrang wi' it's
the baldy-heided master,
He goes tae the pub on a Saturday
He goes tae church on Sunday
Tae pray tae God tae gie him strength
Tae face the weans on Monday.

now i'll apologize up front for this posting not being songs, but as my hair continues to thin, i've accumulated a few bald head perspectives...

a belgian friend of mine (where sensitivities to mistresses are much less than in the u.s.) said his father said he was bald because his wife pulled out all his dark hair to make him look older and less attractive to other women, and his mistress pulled out all his gray hair to make him look younger, and more attractive when she was with him.

a bald headed men joke... men who are balding in the front are very intellectual men who are balding in the back are very sexy men who are balding in both the back and the front only think they are very sexy.

cheers!

pete

Subject: Lyr Add: BALD-HEADED MEN (Christine Lavin)

BALD-HEADED MEN
Christine Lavin, 1993
(From Four Bitchin' Babes, volume 2)

I don't like men who exaggerate
About the places they've been, about the money they make.
I like a man who's honest and true,
Who can look you in the eye when they talk to you.
I like men who accept who they are.
Not everybody can look like a movie star.
If you can follow this thought to its logical end,
You can see why I like bald-headed men.
--She said it before.
--She'll say it again.
I like bald-headed men.

Everybody knows it's testosterone
That turns a bushy-haired man into a chrome dome.
But testosterone is what makes a man a man.
The more that he's got, the more that he can
Do the things that make the women go OY!
I'll take a bald-headed man over a big-haired boy.
Big-haired boys make very good friends,
But they cannot compare to bald-headed men.
--She said it before.
--She'll say it again.
I like bald-headed men.

Why would you waste your money joining that hair club for guys?
Why would you cover your manly badge of honor with such a bad disguise?
Why would you blow your money on Rogaine and Minoxidil,
When all it can guarantee are years and years of pharmacy bills?
Please don't do it.
--Yes, we believe the hair replacement industry
--For men is like the cosmetic industry for women--
--A giant black hole that will suck your money away
--For the rest of your lives.
Please don't do it.

No matter how you fight it, time marches on.
Some new things appear. Some old things are gone.
Let 'em go. It's a natural thing,
Like a leaf off a tree, like a bird on a wing.
Try looking in your mirror from a whole different place.
You're not losing hair; you're gaining face.
Be confident. Be cool. It won't be long when
You'll find you are proud to be one of the bald-headed men.
--She said it before.
--She'll say it again.
I love bald-headed men.

Now, I don't know if this is the song you're looking for, but it certainly must apply to a large number of the male participants here. As singer-songwriters go, I think Christine Lavin is pretty good. She's certainly clever, and occasionally almost profound.

I don't know this song, but if you want a song in praise of bald-headed men you should listen to the late Eddy "Cleanhead" Vincent's (did I get the last name right?) song "Folks Call Me Mr. Cleanhead." It is a song that perhaps should be posted up in our treehouse, given its lyrics. The song was on a double-album live with many other blues masters.

Mr. Cleanhead was his theme song. I venture to post one verse:

"If it hadn't been for you women, I'd have my curly locks today, If it hadn't been for you women, I'd have my curly locks today, But I been hugged and kissed and petted, until all my hair been rubbed away. . ."

He also did on it an amusing song with the first line "I took the front door in, but I had to take the back door out",.

I heard a song by a female blues artist on a radio station out of state while driving one night. She was singing the praises and virtues of bald headed men.

I've got a very bald friend who has a birthday soon and would like to get the lyrics or at least who the artist is - any thoughts?

Thanks!

Sam
