I wonder if you can help me.

I want to read some newsgroups, but I only have web access.

I know of deja.com but i dont like the interface. I used to use remarq.com which was very good but now they want me to download softward and pay a subscription - I'm sorry!

Any ideas?

James

Both MS Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator have excellent newsreader features, though IE uses Outlook Express which can expose your computer to a LOT of nasty bugs. For either of them, the help files in the browsers can lead you through the set up process nicely.

You WILL have to have your own ISP, though.

Sean,

Thanks, but I'm looking for a website where I can read news.

I only know deja.com which isn't great, and remarq.com which no longer exists in it's previous form.

I was hoping to find some alternatives.

James

Hmmmm... nothing that doesn't involve payment in some form or another that I know of. Deja was pretty much all I used before I configured to just use my ISP's portal.

Sorry.

Have you tried jumping off from here?

http://www.liszt.com/news/

There are subdirectories available from there.

Please let me know if you find a better one.

*looking*...there was a French site which was terribly hard to navigate..and I think one other, but these sites get SO overloaded that they can't handle it. If there is any hint that they carry adult newsgroups, they are swarmed over, whether or not it is true. I'll keep looking......
