You are most welcome goalie164. Spaw's reaction was almost as good as the tender lyric I found.

Are you up here in the Great White North or just an enlightenment hockey/music fan who knows The Forgotten Rebels. I saw them live once by accident at a protest at Toronto City Hall. It was before they lightened up and started writing songs like the one you posted.

Colonel Sanders died shortly before this protest. The Forgotten Rebels spoke about burying him in a bucket before singing, 'Elvis is Dead, The Big Fat Ass is Dead.' they also sang a song dedicated to Vietnamese Boat People called 'Bomb the Boats and Feed the Fish.'

Subject: Lyr Add: BREAKFAST AFTER 10 (Blue October)
From: GUEST,goalie164
Date: 29 Dec 00 - 03:17 AM

i finally found the song at the radio stations web site.

blue October – BREAKFAST AFTER 10

white kitchen walls with a thousand windows
turn on Winston in the day
and i'm still asleep, but hear the piano
when you make breakfast after 10

and i smell the coffee on your fingers
i still smell the perfume in the air
the crushed linen roses are on everything
and you're still inside my head

you gotta make her know how it feels to miss you
let her know you're swamped inside
you're not the one with all the problems
no, no, you're the one with all the pride

so just pick your head up boy and walk away
walk the coolest walk that you know
cause in a month or two she'll, she'll call you
you gotta HANG UP THE PHONE

now i hope she knows I’ve got this memory
that wont ever seem to break or bend
a thick lock and Sheetrock is on my windows in the kitchen
i don't think I’ll ever take them down again, no

and I’ve learned a lot from all these break-ups, and make-ups, and fuck-ups, and fake-ups
things that i wish you could comprehend, yeah comprehend
but for now I’ll lace up these wing-tipped shoes boys
and I’ll, I’ll go have breakfast with my good friends.

you gotta make her know how it feels to miss you
let her know you're swamped inside
you're not the one with all the problems,
you're not the one with all the problems
you're the one with all the pride

you gotta make her know how it feels to miss you
let her know you're swamped inside
you're not the one with all the problems,
you're not the one with all the problems
she's the one who's full of shit

so just pick your head up boys and walk away
walk the coolest walk that you know, yeah
i know you know that in a month or two she'll, she'll call you
you gotta HANG UP THE PHONE.

that is it everybody. if you get a chance to hear the song, do it, and let me know what you think. maybe you have already heard it. thank you to everybody for your time.

From: GUEST,goalie164
Date: 27 Dec 00 - 10:28 PM

Hi Ryan,

Well the only song I know of that has "Hang Up The Phone" is a song by "Forgotten Rebels" the name of the album is "This Ain't Hollywood" the song is "Tell Me You love Me" recorded in 1981. It is a Rock song. The lyrics to the song are listed below. If this in not the song you looking for then let me know and I will do some searching for you.
Have a Happy New Year
Joe

TELL ME YOU LOVE ME
Forgotten Rebels

(Before You Hang Up The Phone)

Saw you workin' at the record store
Thea I met you on the dancin' floor
You caught my eye when you gave me a glance
The kiss you blew started our romance

Don't ever break my heart
Cos' you promised from the start
Don't ever break my heart

I remember seeing you on the street
Your the girl that I wanted to meet
Glitter and sparkle ya yer so divine
Your my baby and I'm glad that you're mine
Tell me you love me
Before you hang up the phone

Whisper a kiss and I'll pretend that
your lips are softly touching me
Just like when we're alone
Tell me you love me
Before you hang up the phone

Say that you care and you'll always be there
And you'll never leave me alone.
Every time that you look at me
I feel somethin' that I just can't see
I call you on the telephone
Come over please cos' there's no one else home

Can't you see how you make me feel
My one and only and my love Is real
You turn me on more than rock and roll
Gave you my heart and I'll give you my soul

My love ain't no cliche
Your the girl I want to stay
Yes my love ain't no cliche

Tell me you love me ....

I forgot to tell Joe that the song is a newer song. So we will see what he comes up with this time.

From: flattop

How about this one from the group Blotto?

1,2,3, Hang Up (unreleased)
Sung by Broadway

When we talk long distance
We can't seem to get off
Miles away, nothing to say
There's a little game we play

1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up, hang up the phone
Minute after minute
Quarter after dime
Far from home, all alone
Steamin' up the telelphone

1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up, hang up the phone
Yeah yeah yeah
1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up, hang up the phone

We can't bear to say goodbye
No matter how hard we try
And the time keeps tickin' by-y-y-y
"I miss you so," is all we say
It's been going on this way
Since I left home yesterday

Hold on, operator
Please don't cut me off
A litle bit before I quit
This time is really it
Oh,
1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up, hang up the phone

We can't bear to say goodbye
No matter how hard we try
And the time keeps tickin' by-y-y-y
"I miss you so," is all we say
It's been going on this way
Since I left home yesterday
Hold on, operator
Please don't cut me off
A litle bit before I quit
This time is really it
Oh,

1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up (hang up)
1,2,3, hang up, hang up the phone
hang up the phone
hang up the phone
hang up the phone
Are you still there?

Hang up the phone!

You could try this fella (here's a copy of a post I did on another thread yesterday) - click on the underlined bit, which should be in blue, but might not be:

I've just found Joe's Lyrics, which is an amazing collection of links to sites with song lyrics of all sorts, from all round the world.

The Joe isn't Joe Offer, but he sounds extremely helpful: "If you have been unable to locate the lyrics you're looking for, email me and I will try to find the lyrics for you. I will email you back with-in 72 hours." I haven't tested this invitation yet.

And of course the Digital Tradition is one of the sites to which he has provided a link.

Anyway, I've put this one in the Mudcat links.

If he can find it for you, come back and tell us.

Well its a good thing Ryan as some of us are way down in the Bargain Basement and a few of us are hangin' out way too much at the discount ladies ligerie section.

Welcome to Mudcat. Its a fun place and an informative one and your contributions are as valued an any. You'll find a few others here too like Matt.....well, not exactly like Matt, but that's a different story..........who have broad tastes and you'll also find some whose tastes are limited to folk or blues. Mainly, you'll find a lot of folk nuts who also like one or more other types of music as well.....and that's what makes the place very special. We also BS about a wide variety of subjects, some quite serious, others just blab. Feel free to join in on any thread at any time. Its a very friendly place. There are of course a number of old farts like myself with strange senses of humor and a slightly tilted way of viewing the world. Enjoy!

Here are a couple of possible longshots I found on www.google:

English translation of a Chinese song called Hang Up the Phone

And the following lyrics found at the Alternative Music Lyrics Archive. This song is from an Album of the Year called Faith No More. Hope this helps!

Home Sick Home

Come home
It's been so long
We're missing you at home
So hang up that phone
Cause I'm coming back home
Back home

Come home
It's been so long
I can hide no more
So hang up that phone
Cause I'm coming back home
Back home

Drive me home
Drive me home
Drive me home
Drive me, keep on driving me
Keep on driving me, keep on driving me
Keep on driving me, keep on driving me
Driving me, driving me home

Come home
It's been so long
We're missing you at home
So hang up that phone
Cause I'm coming back home (I'm coming home)
Back home (I'm coming home)
I'm coming back home (I'm coming home)
I'm back home

good luck,

Serious thread creep here, but I want to thank you for your PM about Creed. I tried to PM you back after I bought "Human Clay" but I kept getting the "no member was found" sign. There's some glitch with it. So, THANKS. They remind me a little of Pearl Jam, but with a more hopeful tone in lyrics. --chanteyranger

Thanks Bill, and you're right about halloween. In this case I've obviously scared goalie and I really didn't mean to do it.

GOALIE......Pardner, if you're still around, I have a warped sense of humor at times and the fact that no one seems to have a clue to this song just cracked me up. Its true that we aren't exactly up on all the latest, but most of us listen to enough new things to generally know something.....In this case you have us stumped and that's a fact. I'm sure we'll keep trying.....I tried myself when this was first posted, but none of my search engines had anything that fit the ticket either. I wasn't criticizing you by any means, just making a few lame jokes about the situation.

Actually goalie, I think you've misunderstood the lyrics and its a Sex Pistols song called Hang On My Bone. If not, it could be that Old Milwaukee Classic jingle, Hung Up On Foam. Possibly too, its a Keith Richards solo cut, Damn, Am I Stoned. Of course it could also be Big Bubba and the Florida Crackers singing, Let's Eat The 'Pone. Hey, I bet its the New Salem Witch Hunters smash single, Let's Bang the Old Crone.

Bill's right though........Got a question on something over 50 years old?

thank you very much matt. the song is pretty much inbetween, which makes it harder. i guess more like matchbox 20. i just keep on getting "hang up the phone" running through my mind again and again. i know it is not real hard, and it is not real soft...definately not heavy. i guess thats it. thank you very much.

OK, I'm on the case right now. Hmmm...how hard did it rock? I mean was it a kind of pop/alternative like say, Matchbox 20...or did it rock heavier?

I don't know if Matt's reading right now, but he's the expert around here on alternative music. Maybe he'll be able to help.
