Subject: Lyr Add: SEATTLE (Sheldon/Montenegro/Keller) From: Jim Dixon Date: 07 Aug 11 - 08:49 PM My transcription from the recording at YouTube: SEATTLE Words and music by Ernie Sheldon, Hugo Montenegro, and Jack Keller As recorded by Perry Como CHORUS: The bluest skies you've ever seen Are in Seattle, And the hills the greenest green In Seattle, Like a beautiful child Growing up free and wild, Full of hopes and full of fears, Full of laughter, full of tears, Full of dreams to last the years In Seattle, In Seattle. 1. When it's time to leave your home and your loved ones, It's the hardest thing a boy can ever do, And you pray that you will find Someone warm and sweet and kind, But you're not sure what's waiting there for you. CHORUS 2. When you find your own true love, you will know it, By her smile, by the look in her eyes, Scent of pine trees in the air, Never knew a day so fair, It makes you feel so proud that you could cry. CHORUS [Also recorded by Connie Smith and Bobby Sherman. A version sung by The New Establishment was used as the theme song for the TV series "Here Come the Brides" (1968-70) which was based on the film "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" (1954).] |

Subject: RE: 7 Brides for 7 Brothers From: Tim Date: 25 Sep 97 - 03:16 PM The show was called "Here comes the Brides" and ran in the late sixties for a couple years or so. it was one of the last of the big western dramas a la Gunsmoke et al. The theme song was called "Seattle" (I think) and sung by Bobby Sherman, but I've long forgotten it. I remember it was about three brothers named Josh, Jacob, and Jeremy. |
Subject: RE: 7 Brides for 7 Brothers From: Earl Date: 25 Sep 97 - 01:13 PM I think it was from a tv show staring Bobby Sherman, loosely based on "7 Brides for 7 Brothers" I don't remember the title. |
Subject: RE: 7 Brides for 7 Brothers From: Jon W. Date: 25 Sep 97 - 12:09 PM My oldest daughter reports that there is no such song in the movie. I remember a line of a song that goes "the bluest skies you'll ever see are in Seattle." Seems like it fits with yours. I wonder if it was in the stage version of the story but cut from the movie? I'll do some more checking. |
Subject: RE: 7 Brides for 7 Brothers From: Jon W. Date: 24 Sep 97 - 06:41 PM We have this movie on video tape and my seven daughters watch it now and then (okay, not the one-year-old). I'll see if I can dig it up. |
