Subject: Never Again, remember: Eric Bogle From: karen jonason Date: 05 Jan 01 - 03:45 AM Please can someone give the words of Never again, remember by Eric Bogle. I can't find it in DT or any other database. I would also be grateful for the music score, if someone could set it up for me to download. I don't have MIDI |
Subject: Lyr Add: NEVER AGAIN -- REMEMBER (Eric Bogle) From: Chris/Darwin Date: 05 Jan 01 - 06:49 AM NEVER AGAIN - REMEMBER is on "Mirrors".
I have been to hell today.
I stood alone that winter's day,
Europe, sixty years ago - remember?
Its banner was a crooked cross - remember? Chorus:
It's happening again. It's happening again. Repeat:
Treblinka, Auschwitz and Dachau - remember?
Blood and toil and sweat and tears - remember? Coda:
I've lived in freedom all my life, Bogle says in the sleeve notes, "I wrote 'Never Again' after a trip to the WWII concentration camp called Sachsenhausen, situated just outside Berlin (or East Berlin as it was then). Chilling little place. It seems the political & social obscenity that created Sachsenhausen, and many other death camps, is on the rise again. Could it all happen again? Of course it could. It already is."

Subject: RE: Never Again, remember: Eric Bogle From: karen jonason Date: 05 Jan 01 - 07:51 AM Thanks very much, Chris. I wonder if anyone out there can enable me to access the music? I would like to sing this at a Holocaust Memorial Day event. I don't really want to buy an Eric Bogle Album just for the one song |

Subject: RE: Never Again, remember: Eric Bogle From: GUEST,John McGovern Date: 05 Jan 01 - 08:43 PM Have you contacted Eric, through his website, he's a highly emeniable man and would probably be happy to provide all the details you require, especially as its for a Holocaust Memorial Day. |
Subject: RE: Never Again, remember: Eric Bogle From: Chris/Darwin Date: 06 Jan 01 - 05:40 AM Karen If you are desperate I could make an MP3 of the track and email it to you, but I am not sure of the legality of this. It would also be a very large file (e.g., 4Mb), and would take ages to download. Let me know if you run out of alternatives.

Subject: RE: Never Again, remember: Eric Bogle From: karen jonason Date: 08 Jan 01 - 04:20 AM Dear all! Thanks for the help. I would buy the CD if I had time. I need the music before Friday 26th January so I can learn the song to perform at a Holocaust Memorial Day event in my college. Last year John in Brisbane enabled me to download a music score for another song. It was very quick. Could anyone help in this way? |
Subject: RE: Never Again, remember: Eric Bogle From: Chris/Darwin Date: 08 Jan 01 - 06:04 AM Karen This is not a "boom-chuck" song - it has constantly changing rythmn and subtle emphasis and tune changes. I had not played the CD for years, and I had to play it a few times to start getting the feel of the song into my head. I recommend you listen to the original about 50 times before trying to learn it; I think it is worth it - a very powerful song indeed. It may be very difficult to learn from sheet music. Anyway, good luck!
