Hi,

A friend of mine is visiting Australia. (Sydney, Melbourne and Perth) She is looking for any Irish type sessions. Hopefully some Aussies' read this board. I live in hope anyway.

Thanks,

Dave.

Check out this site, also. www.sessioneer.com Once there, go to Session Listings on the left of screen and click on Sessions by Country.

Hope that helps you out! whisltedon

Hi Dave,

If your friend is coming to Newcastle - 100 miles north of Sydney, on the coast, lovely place - let me know and we will get a session together or she can come to our regular Tuesday night session.

To let me know, you can just put a message in this thread - make sure you remember the title and do a Forum search - or you can join Mudcat for free, no strings attached and send me a personal message.

Helen

If Darwin NT was on the itinerary - your friend would be made welcome at two sessions a week.

Sunday afternoons 2 - 5pm at Kitty O'Shea's Hotel and Thursday nights 8 - 11pm at Dolly O'Reilly's Hotel.

blue clicky for the Top End Folk Club

cheers

There is a session on some sunday afternoons in Fremantle (south of Perth). It is held in a small museum-cottage located just south (walking distance)of The Round House along Bather's Beach. I don't know of they meet every week.

The best session in Sydney for instrumentalists is an Irish session at the Carlisle Castle hotel in Newtown on Saturday nights. The place really cooks.

The best session for singers is the Shannon Hotel in Broadway on Friday nights.

Others' opinions may differ, but take my word for it!

Callie
