The Conga and its origins - Can you help ?

I am wondering whether you can help me in my research for the origins of the popular party song 'The Conga' ("Let's all do the Conga" etc) performed by revellers in a Conga Line.

I am sure that you must have done this at parties too ! but may never have been asked where the melody comes from ?

The music collection societies have told me that it is a traditional melody with lots of arrangements registered.

I have three questions - what is the original tune ? where did it come from ? and does it have a name ?

Any help, pointers or suggestions you can provide would be very much appreciated.

don't know the name.. but it made it into the UK charts when Ozzie Ardiles (???? spelling) signed for whatever club (???Tottenham Hotspur) and they got into the FA cup...
