Don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but BBC Radio Scotland is now online. Archie Fisher's Travelling Folk show is on Thursday 1900-2100 UK time, and repeated on Saturday from about 2100. Celtic Connections is on a couple of times a week in the evenings, and in the afternoons, Ian Anderson's show is an eclectic mix of Classical/Folk/Country and whatever.

Worth a listen. The site is

Enjoy a listen....

Cheers

This is the best news I have heard in a long time ! Archies's program is well worth checking out, he plays a huge range of folk music, not just traditional Scottish.

Roll on Thursday. Oh shit , I have just realised I will be working, due to the time difference. Can you record internet radio to hard disk?

Murray

Wow-thanks,Scabby Doug for the info!

I just checked the schedule Murray-you may be okay...they replay Archie Fisher's show @10:05pm GMT on Saturdays. I also noticed they have a piping show at 8pm GMT Saturday (OH, and football in the afternoon as well-cool!)

That piping program... Pipeline... is excellent! I listened to it for the first time this Saturday past and taped it directly from my sound card to my cassette deck.

With my clunker PC I was able to get a streaming signal of 20 kbps, but the sound is still adequate. Faster PCs should be able to get the stereo quality and 40 kbps.

Can I use my speaker output to tape it or do I have to take the cover off the box and get clever ? Somebody help me please!

Murray

Robbie Shepherd does a show on Saturday evening, and another around lunchtime on Sunday.

Murray> Can I use my speaker output to tape it?

Yes you can. All you need is an adaptor cable to go from stereo mini to RCA plugs. (Get that at any Radio Shack store.)

I used the (amplified) signal from the speaker jack, but if you have a pre-amp you could simply tap into the line output from the sound card. I am blessed with RCA plugs on my sound card, so connecting to my tape deck was a no-brainer.

Just run a test recording to find which works best for you... and don't wait till 10 minutes before the show starts like I did! ;-) Also experiment with sound card volume and record volume settings. You don't want to crank things up so high that you're getting background noise from the sound card.

Can anyone suggest a way of downloading (i.e. updating) Real Player for free? My version is obviously too old. Thanks!
