Date: 10 Jan 01 - 04:58 PM

This week on Folk Roots/Folk Branches my guest will be Elijah Wald, author of JOSH WHITE: SOCIETY BLUES, the first comprehensive biography of Josh White, an influential, important and controversial artist in blues and folk music. White's career stretched from the early-1930s until his death in 1969.

During the conversation with Elijah, we'll be listening to some of White's most important recordings from the 1930s and '40s, including his signature hit, "One Meatball."

There'll be lots of other great music on the show from the likes of Joyce Andersen, Lui Collins, Sue Foley, Steve Goodman, Grace Griffith, Si Kahn, Mary Jane Lamond, Bill Morrissey & Greg Brown, Jelly Roll Morton, Ann Mayo Muir, Frank Proffitt, the Sangsters, Scrüj MacDuhk, Chris Smither, the Soggy Mountain Boys, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, Happy Traum, Doc Watson, and more.

Folk Roots/Folk Branches is heard on Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:30 (eastern) on CKUT, 90.3 FM in Montreal, and in RealAudio from the Folk Roots/Folk Branches website.

That'll be 2-4:30 pm in London, England, 8-10:30 am in Chicago, Illinois and 6-8:30 am in Bolinas, California.

Upcoming Up guests on Folk Roots/Folk Branches ...

January 18- Steve Forbert

January 25- Scrüj MacDuhk

February 8- Sue Foley

February 22- Chris Smither
