apparent.y you are too late to meet Mark Fackeldy...his obit is posted

http://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=64703
his shop was:
Zephyrhill Autoharps

Tampa, FL 33604-5415

maybe our "harpgirl" will chime in here?

youmight want to check out these festivals an dcamps focussed on autoharp

http://www.mlag.org/ in June...The 22nd Annual Mountain Laurel Autoharp Gathering will be held June 20-24, 2012
at Little Buffalo Family Campground Newport, Pennsylvania

or this one IN BEAUTIFUL ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA...
OUR 23rd YEAR!! Sunshaine State Acoustic Music camp
http://camp.cgmusicman.com/

or this in new york http://www.cranberrygathering.com/
i did not include the west coast gatherings, there are
ones in Cal, Ore,

http://www.cyberpluckers.org/festivals.php has a list of several
gatherings...perhaps someone at one of these camps will know
of an auto harp teacher in your area..

Have you looked at the music stores in Tampa for a teacher?

on this site:
http://www.cyberpluckers.org/teacherlist/index.html
i found this:

Susan-Marie -- There is music every Thursday eveing at European Street Cafe in the San Marco section of Jacksonville. Christin Kane this week -- met her in Lauderdale this past weekend and she's wonderful. When you get to town, pick up a copy of Folio Weekly, a free local entertainment weekly...look in the center spread for who's performing where. St. AUgustine is close by with lot's of music as well -- we're going down to hear Patty Larkin this Fridat night...If anything else pops up, I'll drop you a note.

Yes, Harpy, I thought Sanford was more known for the Auto-train. 'Course Sanford is still a very small town. In fact I've heard that when the front of the train engine is leaving the city limits, the back end hasn't even arrived yet!! Don't get me wrong, though, I'd love to live in such a small town much more than I like living in the 'big city' that I do.

Thanks, caz2ufolk. I sing with an Irish band and sometimes unaccompanied, but rarely in a strange place. I'll check out the Fuel coffeehouse and sit back for a good listen.

...so you noticed that as well, banj???? I figured if it wasn't to lure us out of hibernation, they really are passing through customs and don't know that the airport is really in Orlando!

An airport in Sanford??? Must be talking about farmer Brown's tater junction and catfish emporium. I think it's got one straight road long enough to land of if you're not too fussy. If you do it just right you might land in the strawberry patch.

harpgirl- Wow! I bet it sounds great when your all having a jam. I like the sound of the harpsi-chord. I try to get that sound on my guitar when I play a song called 'Absent Friends' by Keith Hancock.

Sanford is just the airport my girlfriends and I are flying too. Once we've got through customs! picked up are car, I don't think we'll be stopping long. We are going to be traveling down the I95 to west palm beach stay a few nights and then head out west to fort myers.

My girlfriends have never been to Florida before, I am so excited for them. I thought it would be nice to combine the holiday with some excursions to a few folk clubs.

...Hi caz2ufolk. There are a number of irish harp players around here such as Helen, Alison, guest, Julia. I am merely an autoharp player. Why are you going to Sanford? It's mostly sandhills and antiques stores!!!...DeLand's little clubs often have good music and Orlando has lots!

Coming up the on Staurday, 27 January, is the annual Heritage Village Folk Event in Largo, near St Pete. There are different types of music represented, from Old Time, Country Gospel, Celtic, something for almost all tastes.

...It should be a very good time for all down at Esterlin Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Paul. Sorry I will miss it! I was hoping Brad Keeler would come down from his new home in Seattle and jam some with me on his way south but evidently he is enthralled with the great northwest!

Hope to see you in White Springs now that Jeb and Kathryn have decreed that the FFF will proceed as usual in May! Oh, and of course at the Will McLean Festival, also. Have you got song entries this year?

Caz...As Sanford is just outside of Orlando -- try this site -- the Orlando FOFF chapter: http://members.aol.com/OTownFOFF/Home.html

If you can make Grant's CD release, you won't be dissappointed. He's one of my favorite Florida folkies who will also be at the South Florida Folk Fest this weekend -- Grant and I will be performing together at Kool Beanz in Cocoa Village on February 10th, if your still in the vicinity (www.koolbeanz.com).

If your Florida drive is occurring in the first week of February, then come down to Homestead to the Main Street Cafe, when our club is hosting Grant Livingston's CD release party. It will be a great night, singers and musicians welcome. First Wednesday in February.
