Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Wolfgang Date: 27 Mar 01 - 05:46 AM for all, here's an interactive town map of Muenster for Andreas: I had a look at the map (it has a street search function): Overbergstr. is so close that I am ashamed I didn't know. Ten minutes walk from me. Go to the search function of the twon map, enter Overbergstr. and as soon as you have the map click on the arrow pointing exactly to the East. You'll then see a map that has both Overbergstr. and Wiener Str. in it and you can zoom in or out to see where that is in general. Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Noreen Date: 27 Feb 01 - 03:05 PM Voila! (Or whatever that is auf Deutsch.) German Mudcatters get-together Part 2 |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Noreen Date: 27 Feb 01 - 02:54 PM Good one Les! And the Ferry reel? I used to belong to the Ferry Ceili Band (members from both banks of the Mersey). Eric- the boat's big enough to find somewhere to hide and play- the lifeboats? *LOL* I'm used to playing, singing and dancing all the way across the Irish Sea, but this could be a first for the North Sea! |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Eric the Viking Date: 27 Feb 01 - 02:07 PM Can someone clever do one of those "start another thread of same name part 2" things so I don't have to load up 109 messages please? I can't cos I'm fick!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Eric the Viking Date: 27 Feb 01 - 02:01 PM Hey Lette-we need a fiddler. Imagine, Bron-that would be a first, a mobile session, logged on to Mudcat and we cross the sea-bet we'd get thrown of the boat-can't swim!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Les from Hull Date: 27 Feb 01 - 01:11 PM If you're going to have a session on the Pride of Rotterdam, promise me you'll play 'The King of the Ferries'. :-) Hull doesn't get any Pride until later when PoR's sister ship is completed! Les |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Noreen Date: 27 Feb 01 - 08:17 AM Letty, definitely take your fiddle. You'll be sorry if you don't! Noreen |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Letty Date: 27 Feb 01 - 05:55 AM If need be, some people (max 3) can sleep at my place near Bochum. I live about 1.5 hours from Muenster, so maybe it's not the most practical solution, but it is free! Letty (wondering if I should bring my fiddle, I've just started a year ago) |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Llanfair Date: 27 Feb 01 - 05:13 AM If you do a search for "Pride of rotterdam" on google, it tells you stuff about it, even that it has a cyber area where passengers can log on to the internet!!! We can do a running commentary on this very website as we cross the North Sea!!! Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Noreen Date: 26 Feb 01 - 09:35 PM I'm told that the Pride of Rotterdam has nearly as great a tonnage as the QE2! |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Rollo Date: 26 Feb 01 - 07:39 PM I would recommend some beef for mealtime - quite cheap nowadays. Hee hee hee. |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Eric the Viking Date: 26 Feb 01 - 05:16 PM Yes, what are we going to eat? Sandwiches for the boat? There's a McDonalds about 8Km from the port for breakfast? Do we know any more about sleeping arrangements? OH yeah-the wursts- I can't wait!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Cobble Date: 24 Feb 01 - 07:27 PM Susanne my wife and I have a lot of good friends in Germany, we used to get over twice a year. We have fond memories of them all, one visits us whenever she can. But I have got to admit my weakness is for the cake shops, oh I love them. What to buy, never could make my mind up. I taught them in Rottenbourg am Necker how to make a traditional English dish, THE CHIP BUTTIE, yummy, bye the bye I used to sing sometimes. Cobble who is now feeling very hungry. Love ya all. |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Susanne (skw) Date: 24 Feb 01 - 05:40 PM Cobble, surely Germany has more to offer than that! Black pudding, for one thing - said to be one of the few animal products safe from BSE ... :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: katlaughing Date: 24 Feb 01 - 04:59 PM Thanks, Rollo, I really appreciate that and I know bet will, too. |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Rollo Date: 24 Feb 01 - 04:58 PM Ah, Kat, now that you mention it... there was this question about frankfurt airport... well, you are right. There is noone living in frankfurt. Actually, it's just a spot on the map where someone dropped a bunch of bankers to get rid of them. But your sister bet can be assured there is a slight chance she can find the right gate on FFM airport within three hours. |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Cobble Date: 24 Feb 01 - 02:26 PM My passport has arrived back in double quick time so Im chomping at the bit, 14 years since I was in Germany last I cannot wait. Beer, sausages, more beer more sausages YESSSSSSSS. Cobble. |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: katlaughing Date: 23 Feb 01 - 07:46 PM No, Susanne, it's just that "bet", my sister, asked a question in this thread, way back up there on the 11th and no one bothered to answer or even acknowledge it. |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Rollo Date: 23 Feb 01 - 07:02 PM Hey, this will be great fun in munster! So many dear people travelin' so far from everywhere... Let's call it MUNSTER MUDCAT MAY-DAY GATHERING! Llanfair: here is a recipy against sea sickness delivered from my grandpa who was a mediteranean sea shooner cookie... You should eat so much you are really stuffed up before you launch, but not as much you get sick without sea of course. While aboard, eat and drink heartily. You will find this REALLY helping, tried it myself occasionally. The mistake of most puking land lubbers is, their stomach is empty because they expect problems. |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Susanne (skw) Date: 23 Feb 01 - 06:56 PM Surprising, isn't it? Maybe all the yuppies there are too busy being trendy to check out something boring like folk music ...? Kat, did you have a particular reason for askign? Maybe someone else could help. |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: katlaughing Date: 23 Feb 01 - 06:38 PM Gee, bet, I guess this means no one lives near Frankfurt... |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Llanfair Date: 23 Feb 01 - 04:43 PM We can all be seasick together, though I believe the consumption of just the right amount of alcohol helps. Purely medicinal, you understand. Cheers, Bron. |

Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Eric the Viking Date: 23 Feb 01 - 02:41 PM I'm NOT one to cast doom and gloom, but wasn't there an Irish session going on somewhere below decks on another boat that was on her maiden voyage (if you discount a few sea trials and things)? What was her name? Oh yes, Tintinic or something.I'm really looking forward to this, what should we call it? Munstock? I suppose we should have started alphabetically with A-stock, but we are doing all right with L-stock and now M-stock . Soon should be N-stock Still mustn't forget a Yorkshire gathering sometime Eric :-) |

Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Les from Hull Date: 22 Feb 01 - 07:48 AM If any UK mudcatters are returning on the Sunday, there's a monthly session at Nellie's (The White Horse) that starts at about 2pm and finishes later - much much later. It happens on the first Sunday of every month, unless it gets moved for any particular reason. As we haven't had March or April yet we haven't discussed if we'll move the May one because of the bank holiday. But if anyone is interested, please get in touch. Many of the Hull Chapter will be in Whitby, though (like Maggie and me, Ickle Dorritt and Cavia_P). Of course, if you're close enough to Beverley and have a designated driver, we'll look forward to seeing you in March or April. Les |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Wolfgang Date: 22 Feb 01 - 07:22 AM Letty, if you live in Bochum you even could come by bicycle. Of course, you are welcome. Wolfgang |

I'll do a count of how many come and then I'll have another look at the rooms in our flat... More to come. Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Susanne (skw) Date: 21 Feb 01 - 09:13 PM I'd go with you if I wasn't over here already. Sounds like you're going to have more fun on the trip than at the gathering! I suppose we'll have to declare it the first ever Anglo-German Mudcat Gathering. Looking forward to meeting you all! |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: bill\sables Date: 21 Feb 01 - 07:36 PM Bron, Your'e in I will tell Skipjack tomorrow pleased to have you join us. Still two seats left, any offers? Bill |

Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: GUEST,Skipjack @ work Date: 21 Feb 01 - 11:56 AM Yo Bill! Managed to sneak onto someone elses pc, as I'm still barred from the 'cat at work. Abused it too much last year. Diamond geezer Eric phoned me and told me what was afoot. I have cleared it with the present Mrs Skipjack to come, so if there are another three bums, I'll bring me motor. We can have the mother of all sessions on that overloaded datebox chugging across. Sorry, my friends, for my absence. Still with you in spirit. Skipjack |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Eric the Viking Date: 20 Feb 01 - 03:13 PM Still got the logistics to sort out, but it looks like a go-er Cheers. Eric |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Les from Hull Date: 20 Feb 01 - 10:29 AM bill\sables - When you drive through Hull go carefully - you're going right past my living room window (it's alright, we don't have a book depository but there is a small grassy knoll). I live just north of Hull Marina, almost opposite the preserved Spurn Lightship. I'm sorry that we won't be able to join you, or even offer to meet up on your way back (we'll be in Whitby). But you may well be on the brand new ship 'Pride Of Rotterdam' which is due to enter service on May 1st. Les |

Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: bill\sables Date: 19 Feb 01 - 06:12 PM The boat docks in Rotterdam at 8-00am. After clearing customs etc we should be starting about 9-30 and should arrive in Munster no later than 12-30. Leaving on the Sunday should be no later than 2-00pm. if we leave on the Sunday. Bill |
Subject: RE: BS: German Mudcatters get-together? From: Mrs.Duck Date: 19 Feb 01 - 05:51 PM Having just investigated ferry routes and times it would seem that for UK mudcatters to come we would have to set off from Hull on Friday night, travel all day Saturday and then leave early on Sunday to travel back overnight to Hull. Can't really say that sounds a lot of fun so it looks like we won't be coming after all. |
