Subject: RE: BS: any reinactors out there From: SeanM Date: 12 Jan 01 - 01:02 AM One or two 'rennies' as well... Renaissance Faire performers, as it were. I'm with a group doing a loose (VERY loose) version of sailors. Not too historically accurate, but we have fun. One or two others from my group run loose through the 'cat on occasion as well. M |

Subject: RE: BS: any reinactors out there From: GUEST,chanteyranger Date: 12 Jan 01 - 07:08 PM I take part in our museum's once a month living history day, re-enacting a square-rig sailor in the year 1901. Specifically, I serve as chanteyman during a sail raise, and then take part in a recreation of a "dogwatch," when sailors had some time to relax aboard ship, telling tales, singing, playing music. The dogwatch re-enactment doubles as a kids program, where the public is invited to sing along. Mudcatters Melani and Winters Wages are also involved in the day's happenings. -chanteyranger |

Subject: RE: BS: any reinactors out there From: Gorgeous Gary Date: 14 Jan 01 - 02:54 PM Wolfgang: Better yet, there was an SCA chapter (out west, I believe), that was investigated by the FBI. Apparently our government thought they were the "Society for Creative ANARCHISM". I'm told that, once the mistake was cleared up, the investigating agents actually became SCAdians themselves. I'm one of the musicians for a Rennaissance dance group here in the DC area. -- Gary |
