Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: YOU'LL FIND HER NAME WRITTEN THERE From: Mark Clark Date: 17 Jan 01 - 11:45 PM Bill Monroe is probably most closely associated with this great Harold Hensley tune although it's been recorded by many people including John Fahey, Mike Seeger, and The Jerry Garcia (Old And In The Way). The word find at the end of each verse is traditionally sung as fa-hind. - Mark
YOU'LL FIND HER NAME WRITTEN THERE
No more, no more she'll walk the earth, (D, C, D)
Her new voice rings where the angles sing,
I'm all alone since the call of fate,
I breathe her name into the air,
You'll find her name written there.

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: You will find her name writte From: Mark Clark Date: 17 Jan 01 - 11:59 PM Excuse me... In the previous post, I started to type The Grateful Dead and realized that would be misleading and decided to change it Jerry Garcia and negleted to delete the word the. I didn't mean to besmirch Jerry's memory by referring to him in the same way one might refer to The Donald. Also, I assume everyone is familiar with the chord notation in which the letter in bold font represents the beat on which the chord is changed or re-emphasized. - Mark |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: You will find her name writte From: Mark Clark Date: 18 Jan 01 - 09:13 PM jeepman, You asked for lyrics and chords so I took the trouble to carefully build the HTML so you could have them in a nice useable format. If you really wanted a recording by Ol' Ern you should have said so to begin with and saved me the trouble. And If you'd really rather hear Ford sing it than any of the people I mentioned then... well good luck to you. - Mark |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: You will find her name writte From: jeepman (inactive) Date: 18 Jan 01 - 09:23 PM Mark I apologize for my mistake. When I first asked, I thought I just needed Lyrics and chords. You were good enough to produce just that and I am grateful. When I showed this to my friend who wanted it, he says he wants to hear Ernie Ford sing it. He is quite old and set in his ways. I hope you understand and will accept my apologies. Sincerly, Jeepman |

Subject: RE: You'll Find Her Name Written There From: Genie Date: 16 Jan 03 - 04:15 PM The liner notes for the "Breakdown" tape by "Old & In The Way" (Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, et al.) say "Charlie Monroe, Bill's older brother, first recorded this haunting melody on RCA Victor in 1951. Bill's 1954 Decca recording, released as a single in 1957, didn't appear on LP until 1971 but was quite familiar to bluegrass audiences. ... David (Grisman) recorded it instrumentally on his first album in 1975." |
