Subject: Clyde Plays Eclectic Bass From: GUEST,CBJames Date: 17 Jan 01 - 09:18 PM "Plays it with Finesse and Grace; Sit on the porch without no shoes; Pickin the bass an singin the Blues." This was a JJ Cale song back in the 70s. My secretary recently took up this wonderful instrument to accompany her man in a celtic folk / rock band. When I heard that I sang the above riff but garnered little recognition. Can't remember the rest of the verses. I do remember the instrumental melody but would be happy if anyone could point me to lyrics, midi or sound files. I know this is not really folk but you are such a knowledgeable and generous bunch - I beseech. With thanks in advance cbj

Subject: RE: Clyde Plays Eclectic Bass From: GUEST,Steve Latimer Date: 18 Jan 01 - 08:08 AM This is such a cool song, as are so many of J.J. Cale's tunes. I'll try to find my cassette tonight and get the lyrics for you. I always thought it was electric bass. Steve |

Subject: RE: Clyde Plays Eclectic Bass From: GUEST,Steve Latimer Date: 18 Jan 01 - 08:16 AM CBJames, A quick search found Steve's J.J.Cale Page (another Steve). Nice page. Found the Lyrics. From the album Naturally. I love that album. Here you go. Clyde (W.C. Beavers, J.J. Cale) Clyde plays electric bass Plays it with finesse and grace Sit on the porch without no shoes A-picking the bass and singing the blues Misery loves company And his old dog sings harmony Tambourine tied to his tail You can hear him moan, you can hear him wail Jody May, she got a dollar Down the road you can hear her holler "Get up Clyde, we got something to do That old dog can sing the blues" He don't move, he don't flinch Clyde, he don't move an inch Just sit on the porch without no shoes Picking his bass and singing the blues

Subject: RE: Clyde Plays Eclectic Bass From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 Jan 01 - 08:14 AM I like eclectic bass myself. I think Eccentric would fit better though. Mind you if we talk band rather than bass you can't beat elastic (I gave it up for music and free elastic band...) Dave the gnome |
