I am trying this from a different direction. Everyone has been very helpful in finding the words and music for which I am grateful.

What I am hoping for is an Ernie collector or enthusiast who can help me with the record or a download.

On June 21,1949, Ernie recorded on Capitol, Master#4602"You'll find her name written there". I have tried for days to find a copy or tape of it but have not succeded. Mudcatters have never failed me and I know they won't now.

FYI, this is not a selfish motive. An old friend would like to hear Ernie's version and I would like to give it to him .. Thanks, Jeepman

Hey Justa. I thank you for the help but I have tried that site several times. I even emailed 4 times and they don't even answer.

Maybe someone has a collection. Jeepman

Is this the one ye seek? Recorded by the Grateful Dead.

Lyrics: Harold Hensley Music: Harold Hensley

Played by Jerry with Old And In The Way. Not listed in DeadBase (even under a mistaken title so far as I can see).

No more, no more, she'll walk this earth Her face like a beautiful [cloud] But all alone, there's a marble stone You'll find her name written there

Her [little?] voice rings where the angel sings Her voice so pure and so fair But if you look to the heaven above You'll find her name written there

I'm all alone since the call of fate Left me in the deepest despair And if you wait at the pearly gates You'll find her name written there

I breathe her name into the air It goes and I know not where But if you look to the heart of a friend You'll find her name written there You'll find her name written there

Put the title in quotes and run a search on Google. Tons of hits and lots of recordings listed, all the way from Bill Monroe to the Dead.

I'll give you a link....just click, but its at www.google.com.

BTW, in the mid fifties his show was sponsored by FORD and at one point you could get a pencil from your local Ford dealer witha clear plastic tube between the pencil and eraser filled with dried peas ("Pea-Pickin' Good")......I had several as a kid and I'd love to know what one of those suckers would be worth now.

Well good O then! I only have one of his albums, and it is all hymns--unless my brother took it a couple years ago. Didn't even go look, because I knew it was all religious.

If anyone knows where one can get a CD of Tennesee Ernie Ford Sings the Songs of the Civil War do let me know. It was released as a CD by Capitol Records in the early '90s. I sure would like to find another copy.

Hmm, well now there's a thought. I do have a good recording of it. And I know a friend that's gotten right handy about burning in his own CD's. Seeing as I've looked for a CD of it for two years I guess I can conclude that it is not around and there's nothing wrong with making my own. Thanky Gene,

Rex
