It seems like the Olympics may have sparked an interest in the Antipodes at last, judging by the number of folk artists we have touring Australia in the next couple of months. Here are some of the artists heading south. For a more comprehensive list, see the tour in the the WHAT'S ON section of our FOLK AUSTRALIAsite.

Roy Bailey Battlefield Band Bob Dylan Felpeyu The Furey Brothers Vin Garbutt Andy Irvine Lunasa John Mc Cutcheon Rory McLeod Mose Scartlett Kristina Olsen Richard Thompson Loudon Wainwright III Alistair Hulett Ralph McTell Martyn Wyndham-Read Sarah Grey

OZ is a great place, no doubt. Could it be that you are enjoying summer and in the northern hemisphere, well you know what many of us are enjoying; long nights of darkness and maybe ice and snow.

Enjoy the concerts, if your purse holds out.

Ellen

I thought this was going to be about those of us who are so unhappy with the recent election of the Shrub and wanting to leave the country!

Sounds like some great stuff. Enjoy!

Please don't provide a straight line like that...it's awfully hard to resist.

Makes me miss Benny Hill.

Peter.

Some of us Down under are heading for the UK in June! Mass exodus of Sydney folkies (about 35 of us!) for a month-long tour, travelling under the name "Solidarity Choir" and "Touchwood".

If it makes you Northern Hemisphere folks feel better, it's about 42 degrees celsius today, impossible to breathe, think, function. My car is like an oven - I could fry an egg on my dashboard.

Alison, the only date I have apart from Port Fairy for Ralph is March 18 at the Clarendon in Katoomba. I'll pass your message on hahahaha... is that why you moved house?

re- Show of Hands... I guess it won't be February or March as they seem all booked. Maybe between April 8-July 13? Says nothing on their website. :(

I have just been invited out next Saturday to see an Australian guitarist named Phil Manning. I always pictured the Clarendon as having night-clubby acts, but to the best of my knowledge Manning plays his own songs on acoustic guitar(s).

I will try to catch Ralph there if I am not still up over at that time.
