I've only recently joined this outfit and have been lucky enough to experience most of what the Mudcatters have to offer. I started out playing music of the Carter Family and naturally migrated to Bluegrass. I'm a fair lead flat picker and love creative backup licks. But my roots are in Old Time Country and Folk. I play an old S.L. Mossman Tennessee Flat Top that is well marked by the things I have done. This place is a blessing due to the vast background of those who come here and your indulgent nature. And the principles guiding it are what I believe our country to be about - Say and do what you want as long as no one gets hurt. I'll do my best to remember the main focus is on music.
On that note an apology is in order from me - I became a "Flamer" on two threads and now know better after reading the principles and guidelines of this space in time. So in my sincerest form "I apologize."
I also wish to "Thank" the folks who got me the chords to a tune I've had an affliction for since it was written - "City of New Orleans."
I look forward to seeing more of this and will attempt to dredge some of my old tunes up that may not be on and send them for posting. May you all have a superb day. Steve

Hi Nort....I've caught you around and I was going to send you to some of our old threads you might like on guitars and such. If you enter Guitar in the filter box and set the refresh to two years, you'll find tons of threads. Also, BTW, Mossman had a lot of neck problems for awhile and Rick's was not the only one with problems. Matter of fact, CLICK HERE for an old thread you might enjoy where the Mossmans came up.

We're glad you're here and happy to have you. Its a great place!!!

Spaw

We seem to have a lot of newer members right now, and it's been awhile since there was a thread to welcome them all. I was going to start one, but this one will do nicely-- the title opens it to all newcomers.

So welcome, Norton1, and all other NewCats!

~Susan

Welcome to the advance outpost (inpost? nahhh) of the Neil Young Center For The Terminally Screwed. Some of the people here really are crazy, but don't worry about it. Some people forget to take their medications, like Troll or Spaw, and others have really strange side effects from the ones they do take. But don't worry, as you like that bluegrass stuff, I'm sure you'll adjust nicely.

Again, welcome to the 'Cat!

Norton1: Welcome! Not a picker my self more of a strummer but always admired those who can flatpick and I too like old country and folk. I'm putting together a book of Civil War music right now and hope to have that done soon. Stay tuned and have fun. Kindest reguards, Neil

Thanks all!! I haven't done Paltalk and generally don't get the time to do much on the puter.
Irish Sgt. - I am in process of writing lyrics to Soldier's Joy. All of the old ones are pretty bad and, as one Mudcatter says, best forgotten. I have several letters from my Great great great great Grandfather who fought with the Illinois Volunteers, lost a leg due to a minnie ball and a surgeon, was a prisoner of the South, and was then exchanged back to the North. Very interesting man and I am basing the words on his experiences. When I'm done I'll post them here.
Emporer Hmmmmmmm. . . No - more likely the Norton of Old who was Jackie Gleason's pal on the "Honeymooners." My e-mail name actually came from a motorcycle I owned/restored/raced for many years.
I'm glad I am among peers as I am Government Certifiable in a weird way so definitely will fit :-)

Aaah... the old Nortons, in the halcyon days when they were built in the City of a Thousand Trades (Birmingham UK)and BSA, Norton & Triumph were the leaders of the pack!
I was never a biker (though a friend used to give me a lift home from school on his Velocette- no helmets or leathers!) but another schoolmate was a scion of the Norton clan!

Oh yeah.....you'll love it here!!

We have quite a few CW buffs, lots of pickin' stuff, and a pretty fair number of bike nuts.

Welcome, N - 1,

And, I hear tell, the solution for the flatpick is -- to put more air in it.......

Cheers, the canoer
