I've been asked to find recordings by a folk musician named Barb Schloff, who performed at colleges and universities in the late 1980's. "She had a song called 'Ray of Hope' & a funny song about being a waitress. I think it was called 'The Boss.'"

I can't find this one. Does anybody recognize her?

I recall reading an interview with her as a semi-famous local songwriter in some Connecticut (I think) weekly several years ago.

But that's all I know. Couldn't even tell you what city.

Barb was a fantastic performer, her album "A Million miles away" was truly amazing, she had a breathtaking voice, as well as being a very sweet young lady.
Last I saw her play must have been around 15 yrs ago, she was planning to head off to grad school at the time.
Since then google searches show she's gotten married "Barb Schloff Arrieta" and I recall seeing her name somewhere on a track listing, as having sang backup.
Unfortunately I can't help much more than that.

I saw Barb play at Burke Mountain Academy ages ago and she rocked! I have her tape but would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have it on CD since tapes are basically obsolete these days.

I would love to get a copy of "Finally Right." I wore out my tapes of yours from the 90s and miss your music too much to express. Is there anywhere to get your songs? Would you ever be able to get them on itunes so we can purchase them? The world still needs you! :)

My friends and I used to see Barb perform in Newport, RI every week! And I recently borrowed a cassette of her music. Good memories!

I had her CD at a college radio station I DJ'd at in Wilmington, NC in the early 90's. I made a copy to a tape and was listening to it this morning on the way to work. Thought I would look her up.

I have a tape of a live performance which someone ruined by getting tape all pulled out and ripped. It is a tape which ended up in my dorm room in college in Danbury, CT around mid to late 1980's. (still don't know whose it was). I still have it and have wanted for many years to find another copy or fix it.
Barb, I am glad to hear you are still well and will gladly spend hours to fix the old tape if necessary. Your music was always a spirit lifter for me and got me through a college load of hard times!!

I saw her perform at WPI in Massachusetts in '92, then again at The CAV in Rhode Island a few years later. I've listened to her music on or before just about every flight I've ever been on, and I've been a pilot for 18 years.

I 'may' have a viable CD copy of 'A Million Miles Away', as well as a 'mostly' good copy of another cassette that I copied over to mini-disk. I have iTunes files of a few songs right now, but due to computer crashes over the years, I am currently missing several songs.

I'm in the middle of a move, but will see what I can put together.

Hello Barb!
Out of nowhere I was singing "Further Away" this morning- that one pops into my head a lot. I have your cassette still, but without a player deck, have not listened to it probably in 20 years! I can't recall where I saw you, maybe Passim? maybe in RI? I was about 17, wide-eyed and just discovering the local thriving music scene. Your music and voice I remember was so inspiring for me :) I remember mail-ordering a second tape for a friend struggling with depression and living in his van- your music helped him through a difficult time. Glad to find you here in the google searches!

I was a DJ in college and used to play the "A million miles away" record - that was about 20 years ago... Out of the blue today, I was thinking about that album and wanted to see if I could buy it off iTunes. But it isn't there. Anyone have any suggestions on how to buy any of the Barb Schloff records?

I'd really like to get my hands on them. Any suggestions are welcome.
