Subject: Folk Music in Bournemouth Area?
From: GUEST,John Leeder
Date: 30 Jan 01 - 10:15 AM

When my daughter emigrated to England last fall, several people helped me (and her) out by giving us information on folk music goings-on in the region where she was living (Basingstoke). She promptly relocated, and is now living in Bournemouth.

So, let's have another run at it: can anyone fill us in on what's happening in the folk music line in and around Bournemouth? Much thanks.

John, Shambles lives in Dorchester, not far from Bournemouth, and is quite familiar with trad music venues in the area. You might become a member and send him a personal message.

Dorchester????

LEJ is living somewhere in the Rockies so I will forgive him. *smiles*.

The Isle of Portland is where I be.

The Livewire site is good for the Bournemouth area if not exclusivly 'Folkie'.

This site covers a wider area but is probably better for folk. SCOFF

Yes a personal message would be most welcome. Does she want to play or just listen?

I'm not a member, for reasons too complicted to go into, but you can reach me at john.leeder@carswell.com for a few weeks (again, complicated).

My daughter's name is Carla; her husband is Roy Lloyd; she's not a musician but a music lover and sometime organizer, and is educating her new husband. She's been a folk festival employee and volunteer in her time, and might get involved in helping run a club, if her impending motherhood doesn't interfere.

And, yes, I know I misspelled "Bournemouth" in the thread title...
