Subject: Howard Glasser - whatever happened to? From: RoyH (Burl) Date: 30 Jan 01 - 12:21 PM During the 1970's I sang at the Eisteddfod Festivals in Mass.where I made the aquaintance of a great bloke named Howard Glasser. I remember some fine conversations on the folk revival, and trawling through his massive record collection. Been out of touch for many years but would love to have some news of him. I believe he lived in a place called Assonet. Can anyone help?. Thanks. Burl |
Subject: RE: Howard Glasser - whatever happened to? From: Jacob B Date: 30 Jan 01 - 04:45 PM Good question, Burl. I understand that Howard Glasser was the moving force behind the Eisteddfods, and he deserves a lot of credit for the wonderful event that he made happen for so many years. Southeastern Massachusetts University is now the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. The question is whether he is still on the faculty there - and it seems that he is. This link should bring you to a page that can give you the information you want. Jacob |
Subject: RE: Howard Glasser - whatever happened to? From: Sandy Paton Date: 31 Jan 01 - 12:16 AM Howard is about to retire from U Mass Dartmouth, Burl. In fact, a bunch of his friends are planning a big party for him on October 19th (2001) to help him celebrate the event. You ought to pop over for the blast! Meanwhile, he's still teaching graphics there, although the Eisteddfod is history. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Howard Glasser - whatever happened to? From: RoyH (Burl) Date: 31 Jan 01 - 09:28 AM Thanks Jacob B and Sandy. I fully agree that Howard deserves credit for his part in those marvellous festivals. Perhaps nearer the date of his retirement those of us who sang there can send him appreciative messages. Sandy, don't I wish I could be at the bash - I'll be in America late September but don't know how far into October Ill go. It depends on the length of tour I can fix up. I'll be in the Pacific NW, pretty far from Dartmouth. But, y'never know...... |
