Thought we'd try and get a club going in Worthing - in spite of the constant closing down of venues to play!!

Anyone out there please come along: 7.30 for 8pm, Friday 6 April, Charles Dickens Pub, Heene Road, Worthing.

To paraphrase Paul Brady the "Club is what you make it" and if we all like it we'll do it again!!

Contact hjcook@carnegie.u-net.com if you are a performer, etc or for more details. Hope to see y'all there!

Challis - thanks for posting a mention for the alldayer - I've not been on the net/mudcat much recently, hence not updated my post! Hope some of you can make it down, the more the merrier - there will be a free pint for all performers. I'll make a note of the Worthing thing and pass the word around the Brighton folkies. Coriander

Hey, Coriander..

caught the Folk Diary at the Schooner, Southwick, last night, would like to try getting across (babysitters, sigh, etc.,) - if not then hope it goes well!

Laurie - know Folks in Deal and Tunbridge Wells, so now spreading the network to Maidstone :) If you are at all into Punk/Folk check out The Fold (evolved from "Altogether Elsewhere" from Brighton) at www.thefold.co.uk They are playing TW soon (similar to Blue Horses) Regards, Hille

Challis, congratulations on your venture, I hope it is very successful.

I loved the Folk scene in Sussex when I lived in the UK. I have especially fond memories of the Royal Oak in Lewes, the Red Lion in Turners Hill and the Wellington in Seaford. If any of you Sussex folkies reading this know John Joseph, please say hello to him from me.

Challis, have you contacted Vic Smith to get your evening mentioned on this page?

Somebody do a blicky for this, please?

Murray

Hi Challis. Best of luck in Worthing. Venue might be a problem with the high profile local press coverage of expensive licences. If you get it off the ground put it in the Folk Diary and Folk on Tap. If you let me know I'll put it in our mailshot for the Willows at Arundel (350 local addresses). We'll also put any flyers out every week. Why not pop up and see us next wednesday. Tom McConville and Pauline Cato are on. Any help with players or audience we're at your service. There's also the West Sussex Folk Orchestra meets at the John Selden. Any new club is good news. Our email is willowsfolkclub@famwill.co.uk

Wow!

Great response - and I was having nightmares that only disinterested drunks from the pub and little old ladies passing through from the prom , (not mention the fishing Rastafarians and the beer bottle throwing naked hippies) might be interested in this - yes this was a REAL dream/mare)

Murray: thanks for that tip that's one I'd missed Mark: We are coming to the Willows next week!!!! Love to speak to you then - thank you everyone for the interest - it is fabulously encouraging. Actually, we plan to do a newsletter and subject to okay mention all the local clubs, events - will keep you posted on that..

Yours in folking

Hille

NB: Anyone want to play? Then please email hjcook@carnegie.u-net.com beforehand (I mean no one may turn up or we might be surprised - but this is a new venture so don't know quite what's happening.)

Thanks to all for support and encouragement so far!

Rehards, Hille
