Subject: Any good web hosters out there??? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 07 Feb 01 - 04:18 AM My current web hosting site is moving of its free 'phone number this friday. I have another free number which I use extensively but I cannot ftp to my host site with it - they insist you use their lines. I can transfer the tags for a 25 quid but I want a good web hosting site that will let me use my own domains and access it via BTinternets free phone service. The domains are swintonfolk.org.uk and myrage.co.uk (the latter being my daughters). My other daughter is likely to want a site with her own domain soon as well. Any suggestions??? Dave the Gnome |

Subject: RE: Help: Any good web hosters out there??? From: Jon Freeman Date: 07 Feb 01 - 03:51 PM Just refreshing it for you Dave. I still haven't sorted out my own ISP problems... At least I stopping at my parents at the moment so I have 24/7 access through her Freeserve Time account. Hope someone comes up with a suggestion for you. Jon |

Subject: RE: Help: Any good web hosters out there??? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 07 Feb 01 - 05:12 PM I use a free number, supplied as part of my ntl account. But my website is still on freeserve, and I can't access it for editing purposes except through freeserve.
I've decided for the time being to leave it as it is - it's just a few local rate phone calls a week, and loading modifications and additions using WS_FTP is very fast. It's only a few pennies. And I quite like the feeling that all my eggs aren't in the same basket.
If I ever do decide to change where I keep my website (or if freeserve wants to start charging or somethig like that), I have a proxy URL via bigfoot, so can it won't mean hassles about letting people know the URL has changed, because it won't need to.
