I'm not a particularly good typist ( never got taught proprely)but I can manage a reasnoable speed wiht two fingers but seem to finish pu wuth text like this
My mind will insits on transposing letters and I have to spent a lot of time putting thigns right
DO YOU DO IT AS WELL? - and if so have you foudn a way of overcoming it

I make a lot of mistakes. The only way I know how do deal with it is to edit. A lot. Sometimes I catch them, and sometimes I don't.

The words I frequently transpose I put into Autocorrect. That, of course, is in Word so it doesn't work here. But it sure is a time saver in a Word document. One of my most common over-reachings is teh, for 'the' - you can imagine how often I would have to correct that!

Yes...seems like of late I've been leaving out entire words. My stuff looks like word salad. Look, at the beginning of the sentence I wanted to type "my", but typed "but" instead. My mind is losing it's grip! Must be overexposure to rubber cement and stray paint.

I do it, especially with really short, familiar words or suffixes like "tion" or "ing".

Haven't found a remedy.

I have the most difficuly with ro, as in from, it usually comes out form. I do a lof editing.

When i decided to take typing in High School it was basically because I wanted an easy credit. That was in the seventies. Who would have thought back then that we would all be typing as much as we do now? Sure was a useful course.

We all do it, especially me, usually at night when I am tired. I try to proofread but don't always catch the errors. Someone told me to read backwards and you catch most mistakes. Seems to work, butt nat alweys

Seriously - I do much better if I am looking at the results of what I am typing. I don't watch the keyboard - but the results. Used to drive my typing teachers nuts as I was never looking at what I was suppossed to type.

well despite taking typing, years ago, which was, I might add, the only course in my life I ever failed.... ooh not quite true, I seem to recall a math....hmmm....never mind...

On one particular day, in the middle of a typing test, my fingers, which seem to become unlinked to my brain whenever a keyboard is sight, somehow shifted position and instead of typing the words "shift lock" typed "shit lick" instead, just as the ever so dour typing teacher, who patrolled the room, was peering over my shoulder. Her icy comment was, "You're not very good with your hands, are you my dear...."

I often recalled her comment, when a few years later, I regularly performed perineal sections under a dissecting scope, on microscopic worms, using a scalpel and an eyerow handling needle and thought, "Fuck you!"

I wish I could now say the same when playing guitar.........

't' and 'y' are my main problems, but, since I am a 2 finger typist, I get a lot of other reversal errors that seem to come from letter combos where my right hand wants to go first...(I am VERY right handed)...what I would love to try is one of those split keyboards that have a large gap between the L & R sides......

Bill D How da hell you do dat? Such a weirdness. I do it to, mostly with the letters e and l. Words like myself come out myslef. Or probable is probabel. I personally think that it is the faster brains. Our brains go faster than our fingers, therefore, goof ups. We all know that MudCatters are a higher order of intelligence......right?

how DID he do dat? Max did it first, 3-4 years ago, and I figgered it out....*grin*

(BTW, there are fonts you can install that are made backwards and/or upside down, but the reader has to have it too, so it takes a little bit more..)

I've got my typing speed up to a really impressive 30 minutes per word, now, and I'm proud of it!

Do I put my fingers on the 'correct' keys? YES! But not necessarily in the right order...

At the end of every post here, I type my name "Mairon", then correct it.

And I hate spell check, or at least the Wordperfect one, because every time it finds my name it suggests that I replace it with "moron".

I am dyslexic so I often put the type the letters in reverse order if they are left and right hand letters on the keyboard.

I have a lot (I mean a *lot*) of autocorrect entries in MsWord. I wouldn't touch-type half as fast as I do if not for that. It's annoying when I have to use e-mail and typing in here etc with no autocorrect.

I spned (see!) spend a lot of time rewriting words like that.

I also have this terrible habit of typing Lousie instead of Louise. Makes me laugh when I meet people called Louise, though.

My other problem with typing is that my little fingers are very low-set on my hands, making them short compared with my other fingers. It makes the touch-typing more difficult because I have to compensate for that. It makes it a bit more difficult playing the flute and tin whistle, but luckily playing the Celtic harp doesn't require the pinkies.
