According to Billboard, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH GABRIEL'S TRUMPET b/w FARTHER ALONG was recorded by Roy Acuff and His Smoky Mountain Boys, and released in September 1948.

"What Would You Do With Gabriel's Trumpet" first recorded by Roy Acuff in 01-1939, Vocalion 4531,B side of "Blue Ridge Sweetheart."
Also released 02-1939, Conquerer 9170, A side.

It can be found on Disc 2 of the 4-disc box set "King of the Hillbillies," The First 100 Commercial Sides, at 16.99 pounds from Smart Choice Music, UK store, or $25.69 from cduniverse.com.

The date 1936 listed by Bluegrass Messengers seems to be an error.
