It was played at the old firm game on Sunday before the game started, it's not "You'll Never Walk Alone" or the Celtic Song.

It has the lyrics

"I wore the crest upon my chest/breast" and "The green and white upon my chest"

I'm not having any luck, but then I don't know what the "old firm game on Sunday" was either.

Sorcha, I've tried too.......got nothing yet! The old firm game is the football match between Rangers and Celtic.....both Glasgow teams.

Anton...can you remember anything else at all about it....was it sung to a well known tune like alot of the other supporter songs are?

Yvonne

I got a lot of stuff about Tolkien and Erandil, but no lyrics. It's not an Offical Team song?

I finally found the Celtic's home site, and several others dedicated to them, and nothing. I think we need a JoeClone to re title the thread, so that the football fans can see it.

Hi Anton, do you mean the one that goes...

Oh it's a grand old team to play for,
It's a grand old team to see
And if you know your history....etc

They usually crank out a crackly old recording of that at the start of games, usually immediately after "You'll never walk alone" which they enter the stadium to. Many club's fans sing a version of this but if you are planning to sing the Celtic version i'd advise you to be extremely careful of your audience. It could get your throat cut in Govan for instance.

I'm afraid my serces for the complete lyrics bombed out too. There are Celtic CD's on their main webpage, but they don't give track listings, i'd expect it to be on the anthems CD though.

All the best,

Nynia.

Anton,

I missed the Sunday game but there is a Celtic Supporters Club not far from where I live. I will ask some of the Bhoys when I see them.

BTW - You're not Rogan by any chance ?.

It's the same tune/song - but different lyrics to the song about the 1957 scottish League Cup Final when Celtic beat Rangers 7-1...

"Oh what joy.....(Don't know that bit) Celtic 7 Rangers 1...

Still that's not much help I suppose.

"Can you hear the Rangers sing?no-oh no-oh" "and if you knew the history oh it's enough to make your heart go oh-oh-oh.oh" about bloody time too.

Celtic fans are good at coming up with parodies of famous songs like Terry Tacks "Seasons in the sun"

"We had joy we had fun we beat Rangers 7-1"

or to the tune of Gauntanamera

"There's only one Glasgow Celtic,one Glasgow Ce-e-e-ltic"

smirk :)smirk;) rubbin' it in:)

Hi there, i had this song in my collection, i hope it is the right one,

if you need anymore you can contact me at

raycelt@eircom.net

slainte, lyric

FOUR LEAF CLOVER

With a four leaf clover on my breast
And the green and white upon my chest
It's such a joy for us to see
For they play football the Celtic way

It's been ten years long time indeed
We stood with pride and took defeat
Our beloved team, our ancient ground
Has been rebuilt, a club reborn

With a four leaf clover on my breast

McCann he rode the winds of change
The things he brought will long remain
A phoenix rising, a house of steel
With sixty thousand Celtic dreams

With a four leaf clover on my breast

The work is done and the stage is set
Those Celtic dreams will now be met
In a sea of green we're here today
To sit and watch the champions play

With a four leaf clover on my breast

Song for the Bhoys

(Written by Devers/Barry)
