I know the lyrics to this, actually, but I'm curious if anyone has a chord arrangement they particularly like. I'm singing it at my grandmother's funeral in several weeks, and it might be nice to play as well as sing, but if I try to figure out the arrangement by myself it'll take forever.

So, any suggestions? (C, G or D are the preferred keys. :))

Molly

Hi there, don't know how to put in chords pretty, but here is the Man's arrangement, from the book: C Slowly EM slowly F walk the C path, and
EM you might AM never DM stumble or G fall
C Slowly EM slowly F walk the C path, and you might
DM7 never fall in G7 love at C all F
CHORUS
C golden, EM golden F is her C hair, like th
EM morning AM sun over F fields of G corn
C Golden EM golden F flows her C love, so
DM7 sweet and G clear and C warm F (don't play the F last time round)

Sorry about your grandmother, can't think of many better songs to honor her with. Hope this helps.

Fabulous! that's perfect. :)

It's really okay. Actually, I didn't even really know her that well, but my father wants me to represent the West Coast contingent of the family and come over anyway. I say, if I'm going to get flown over to Hawaii to sing one of my favorite songs at a funeral, you don't have to twist my arm TOO hard. :)

Thanks for the chords!

M

Duh, I just realized it was in the DT WITH CHORDS! Color me silly. But your arrangement is in a different key, so now I have a few to choose from. Thanks again!

M

Andy M. likes weird keys, like C#minor..........that's where his Queen of Arglle is......good for voice, I suppose.

This song appears on a Silly Wizard video from several years ago wherefrom you might pick up some of the finer points of their arrangement. I haven't been able to find my copy lately so I can't tell you the video's name, but I think it was filmed in Atlanta. Hope this helps some. Mooh.

Silly me, didn't even check the DT. Ah well, as ye say, at least there is a choice now. Don'tcha need a hammer dulcimer player to help you on this gig? I'll even carry suitcases!

And years pass by . . .

To reformat Gypsy's offering (thanx, BTW):

G       Bm    C       G
Slowly, slowly walk the path,
    Bm       Em    Am         D
And you might never stumble or fall
G       Bm    C       G
Slowly, slowly walk the path,
             Am7          D7      C    G
And you might never fall in love at all

chorus:
G       Bm    C      G
Golden, golden is her hair,
         Bm      Em       C         D
Like the morning sun over fields of corn
G       Bm    C         G
Golden, golden flows her love,
   Am7       D7       C    G
So sweet and clear and warm

There are very slight differences between the verse and chorus progressions that aren't in the DT version.

If the chords don't seem to line up when you 'cut and paste', make sure you have the words in a monospace font (courier or deja vu sans mono). Should be fine.
