Like many other mudcatters, I spend time here regularly.
Our principal tool of course is the mouse.

My question to you, as expert mousers,is : what kind of mouse do YOU use?

The regular ol'mouse that happened to come with your computer?

Or a mouse you bought specifically for internetclicking?

Or maybe it's one you chose because it has features you like for your other computer activities, be they work or nonwork related?

This 'cat wants to know!

Rich

I only use the mouse under protest! I much prefer keyboard shortcuts.

Just the plain ol' mouse that came with the computer. But these ones here in the lab with the page-scrolling wheel are pretty hand too. I have a weird way of holding the mouse too. You'd have to see it.

Wore out the first mouse, so bought another generic one from Logitech. I tried a keyboard with a touchpad and liked the pad but not the keyboard. One of these days I am going to buy a separate touchpad...they are really neat, just slide your finger around where you want the cursor to go and the new ones even come with a special pen, so that you can e-sign documents, etc. with your real signature. The only thing I don't like about them, is they seem a little small, esp. if you are used to a whole mousepad for scooting around on!

I use a Logitech 'Marble Mouse,' which is actually a trackball. You move the ball with your index finger. They last a lot longer than most mice, and they're more precise. At least I think so. :)

The one I use at work to mudcat is the one they gave me. On the open access machines the b*****y students nick the balls out of the mice!
At home we did upgrade the mouse to our (non-networked) PC. Herself organised that -it's a pretty dark red but I can't remember the make. (You can tell how non-techie I am)

Not you, mousethief!
But as Roger the skiffler says, someone is stealing mouse balls -- ouch!

It's okay - "the mouse police never sleeps... the mouse police never sleeps..." as the song goes.

The mouse I use bites me every time I use its nose to punch the buttons on my keyboard.

WHY... I ask.... very very odd..... can't see the screen from there...

I've just got a plain boring 2 button Microsoft mouse which has lasted me well (say 10 years). I think when it finally packs in, I will invest in an optical mouse. I know that Jeri and Joe Offer have already invested in this type of mouse - I wonder if any other 'catters have one.

My nephew and b-i-l manage to kill our mice about every 6 months. we now have an optical mouse. nothing really special about it. we'll see if it lasts. the model we have is even less egonometric then a normal mouse, IMO.

regular mouse, but I also much prefer keyboard shortcuts. Also ActiveWords. Ask me if you want to know more about that...

Microsoft with IntelliEye (and wheel in the middle.) Optical infared sensor replaces the ball, so there's no cleaning or wearing out. It always has that silky new feeling.
